How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5985062 / W10811169 Panel-Cntl (Stl)

Ordered and installed a new control panel. Remove four T-15 Torx screws on each side on the inside of the washer door (total of 8). Remove two screws on the inside of the washer door at the top to release the door latch. The front and inside of washer door will then separate. After slightly separating the door look from the outside of the washer door to the inside. There is an additional screw to remove so the control panel will become free. There are a couple of plastic tabs to push to finally free the control panel. Unplug the cable from the control panel. Plug in the new control panel cable, then reassemble new control panel to the door. 

Suspecting the switch panel to be the problem, I removed the panel. Inspected and found corrosion on the wiring sheath. Searched the internet for parts and found Appliancepartspros. They had the part I needed, shipped it out that day and was delivered as promised. Awesome!!!! 

Replaced the Control Panel (keypad) and Door Latch Assembly. The old ribbon cable had corroded traces. 

I ordered the soft-touch Control Panel Assembly. The inner door frame screws needed to be removed along the top and right side; the left side was only loosened to allow separation of the door. The panel sits in slots and is snapped into place. Tilting the panel back and depressing a plastic clip allows for removal. A cable is still attached to the assembly. It can be separated at the panel or further back at the control board. I suggest separating the ribbon cable since it is more accessible. Once attached to the new panel, the assembly snaps back into position. Re-attaching all the panel screws is the last step. 

Found OEM parts drawings at AppliancePartsPros.com; figured out which two parts I needed to replace; ordered and received them in 8-days.New replacement parts were IDENTICAL to the broken originals, i.e., truly OEM replacements; watched the two remove/install videos for replacing these two parts... very helpful (there are always tricks/sequences involved). About 1-hour start to finish. Our 9-year old Maytag dishwasher looks and works like new again. Thank you APP.com! 

Purchased replacement control panel. 

Bought new part and had to remove the screws on door, and installed part. Very easy. 

Replaced touch pad. 

A piece of cake went smooth and works great. Replaced control board. 

Removed 4 screws popped off the old panel, I clipped the wires then snapped in the new board panel back into place, screwed the 4 screws back in reset the panel and it was good to go.
