How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023956 / WPW10730972 Washer Water Pump

Ordered a new pump and replaced it. 

Removed the drain filter housing to look inside, found a foil packet (moist towelette) partially blocking inlet. Cleaned it all out and reassembled but pump was still very noisy. However, it did run until new assembly came in. The swap out was very easy and was a direct fit but seems to be a better design over old one.

Water pump was worn and water would not get out in the time allotted. 

Diagnosed problem online. Removed top of machine and tested components. Water pump was over-heating. Ordered part from APP, pump was delivered next day, installed it after work and got caught up on laundry. This one part was $40 cheaper than my local distributor. Great factory part, great price, fast shipping. Thank you APP 

Replaced entire pump unit. Would be nice if they sold the shaft/impeller separate as there was nothing wrong with the motor and plumbing. 

Took old one out, put new one in with help of u-tube. Part fit perfect. 

Replaced the parts very easy job just like the videos showed that were attached to my order and works great!!! 

Watching the video made it a 15-minute job 

I made a video of the noise, sent it to Appliance Parts Pros and asked them if I might need a new washer pump for my Whirlpool Duet washer. I went online and ordered the part by entering my Serial #. There was double verification that it was the correct part. I watched their "How To Install" video on the same page. It came the next day and I installed the new part. It works perfectly. Felt accomplished as I am a 64-year-old granny.
