How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023956 / WPW10730972 Water Pump

First tried to clean the filter, did not fix the problem. Replaced the water pump. 

Diagnosed it as the pump. Impeller was detached from the shaft. Ordered new pump from the website midday, it arrived the next morning. Fixed within 15 minutes. 

Replaced water pump. The video on the site ensured there were absolutely no surprises when I performed the repair. 

I replaced the pump and the tank to pump boot as well since the unit is 10 years old and it was easier to get to the boot with the pump out anyway. The new parts fit exactly as the old ones did so it was a simple exchange of parts. Both repairs were finished within an hour. The washer works perfectly now. 

Ordered a new pump from appliancepartspros.com. 

Checked that all hoses and drain were clear. Ordered pump from Appliance Parts Pros as I know it would come quickly. Arrived in a couple days. Watched installation Video on APP website. Installed pump in like 15 minutes. Easy peasy! Thanks for the terrific "NEW" washer. 

Cleaned drain and tried machine. Still not working properly. Searched info on issues with machine. Found AppliancePartsPros.com and watched video. Ordered part using model number off machine. It was received within two days. I already had the front panel off the machine waiting for part. It honestly took me five minutes to replace the water pump. Machine is working and draining as it should. 

I replaced the water pump and now you can hardly here it running. I found 2 quarters, 1 penny and a small earing aid battery in the pump. 

Ordered a pump from ApplianceParts. I guessed that the pump was the problem from the ApplianceParts information. Ordered the pump at 1 PM on Monday and it was on my doorstep by 11 AM the following day. Repaired the washer that afternoon. Amazing results. Thanks 

Had repairman check the machine and he identified the drain pump and motor assembly. He said the part would be a couple of hundred dollars and with installation we might as well buy a new machine...about $600 for replacement. Instead, we purchased new pump/motor, watched the video for replacement, and had the machine working again within 15 minutes. All for about $120 (plus the $97 service charge).
