How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012237 / WP8268433 Spray Arm Seal

Replaced components. 

I bypassed the locking mechanism so I could see what was happening inside the dishwasher. It was messy but I found a lot of water was leaking from the middle wash arm as well as where the middle wash arm connects to the water supply at the back of the washer. Found the seal for the wash arm was worn and the bracket, or hanger, for the tube that connected to water supply was cracked. Easy fixes and washer is working well for less that $20. 

Replace the upper spray arm and its mounting components. I love this store it saves me a lot of money!!! 

Replaced the food chopper. There was nothing wrong with the spray arm seal. 

I followed the appliance repair suggestion to change the food chopper wheel, which took care of the bigger part of the problem and the dishes got much cleaner but that light film still showed, not as often, not as intense! I followed the online suggestion and most logical following steps to take and I changed the check valve and the spray arm seal and seems that the machine now works just about at 100% of its capacity( i would say 98%). I take that and thank the guidance offered by AppliancePartsPros.com. 

Without the terrific videos, it would have been a struggle. I followed the instructions from the videos and the process was quick and simple. The repairs worked! No more dirty dishes. 

Screwdriver used to remove two worn parts and new manifold and washer installed within 5 seconds. 

I noticed my dishes were not being cleaned. During the wash cycle the water wasn’t being circulated well enough. I took apart and cleaned out and noticed the chopper had old food and appeared to not be working properly. Once replaced, washer worked like new. I also put new seals as those were worn. Saved a lot of money was going to buy a new one. 

I researched parts on your site and found clues as to what could be wrong. I think the main culprit was a very clogged Chopper but I also replaced the spray arm bearing and spray arm seal. Everything works now! So for about $40, I avoided buying a new dishwasher. 

I researched your site and viewed the troubleshooting guide pertaining to the symptoms. I found similar issues and several other write-ups from others that pointed me in the right direction. The how-to videos allowed me to disassemble and later repair with confidence. The chopper shaft was sheared and its screen was plugged with unprocessed chunks of food. This resulted in low water flow from the spray arms. I ordered the parts and received them in two days. I could not be happier.
