How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009858 / WP6-3129480 Dryer Drum Roller Axle

At first, I ordered the wrong part (in "kit" of 2 wheels) that I thought was the right part number. Although there was several days delay in getting the correct parts including new wheel spindles, I am now in process of returning the wrong parts while the proper parts that I ordered (after identifying my mistake) arrived QUICKLY and the repair went off without a hitch. 

Replaced Drum Axel, Drum Rollers, Tumbler Bearing Kit, Idler Pulley Wheel, Blower Wheel Assembly 

Disassembled unit and replaced roller. Only issue was that unit has two rollers which was not readily apparent from diagram so I only ordered one but would have ordered two rollers had I known. Wish that was more clear on web site. Other than that web site is great. Had a question as to belt routing which was easily resolved by viewing video. Prices reasonable and delivered in a reasonable time at reasonable shipping costs. 

By replacing the drum roller and the roller axle the problem was solved. It works like a champ now. No more squeal. 

Lint buildup and humidity caused the rollers to rust to their axles, and stop turning. Disassembly of the dryer and replacement of the rollers was relatively easy and didn't take long. Appliancepartspros.com had helpful videos to show us how to do it, and having a phone with a camera to take pictures along the way made reassembly a snap.

I went online and determined that the drum support roller(s) was wore out. The dryer is at least 25 years old. The video was great. I replaced both drum support rollers and both drum roller axles. The dryer is much quieter now. Wish I had replaced the pulley for the belt which probably would have made the dryer very quiet.

I took the dryer apart after watching your video. I found a long screw in the bottom of the dryer. Had no idea where it came from. I replaced the parts that I ordered even though they didn’t really look bad. I vacuumed all the lint out of the insides of the dryer ( that took a while). Before I put the covers on the dryer I rotated the drum to be sure everything looked okay. I still had a noise so I rotated some more and found that one of the vanes that stir the clothes was loose. I now knew where the screw was from so installed it and all was good. The dryer is 21 years old so I didn’t feel like I wasted the parts on it. Every thing is good now
