How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009858 / WP6-3129480 Dryer Drum Roller Axle

Replaced Belt Tension Pulley and Idler Shaft Washers, Drum Support Rollers and Shafts and Dryer Drum Belt. Videos provided by this site made completing these repairs a very easy process. 

Got the parts and watched the videos twice. Followed the instructions and got all old parts out and new ones installed. I suggest you have a split ring pair of pliers for the rollers. Took me a little while to the belt face on right but my dryer had an access port in the back and made it easier. Great videos so use them. 

I watched your repair video. I needed a blower wheel assembly. It took me about 45 minutes to fix the video was very helpful. 

Took machine apart and replaced the drum support rollers, the tension pulley and the belt. 

I didn't want to take it apart until I had the parts to fix it. After reading the replies of others I ordered the tumbler bearings and axels. I figured the belt was shot also so I order one of those too. The bearings were worn and wobbly, the axels were corroded, and the belt was cracked and frayed. The videos were very helpful, without them the job would have involved a lot of trial and error and taken much longer. All is good now and I'm very happey. 

I ordered 2 drum support rollers and replaced both. The replacement rollers are as good as the original and made in the USA. Excellent quality and service. No more squeak. 

Replaced the Drum Support Rollers/Axles & the Belt Tension Pulley The repair itself was pretty straightforward & didn't take that long. What took a lot longer was cleaning out all the lint that had accumulated over the many years of using this dryer! We were lucky it didn't catch on fire! Even though we empty the lint trap every time we use the dryer, apparently it doesn't catch all the lint. Thank You AppliancePartsPros.com for prompting us to look into the situation. We will be checking the dyer duct every 6 months to make sure it does not accumulate like this again! 

I dismantled the dryer according to these excellent videos. I replaced the tension pulley roller, the drum support rollers, the dryer belt, and the lightbulb. That beautiful dryer, a Maytag Neptune, went from squeaking to purring! I used a Phillips head screwdriver, a nut driver / wrench and channel locks (?) for the spring clips. It took four hours, but one of those hours was spent looking and buying the tool. For me, the hardest part was getting that pulley moved over close enough to wrap the dryer belt properly. The videos made it so easy! So doable! I am amazed at you guys!!!! Frankly, I’m 65 and about 125 pounds - so if I can do it… You can do it!!! 

Replaced the Belt, 2 Drum Support Rollers, 2 Drum Roller Axles, and Belt Tension Pulley. Squealing is now gone and the Dryer tumbles smoothly again. Used install video as a guide. Comes in handy knowing a 1/2-inch nut on the backside of the Roller Axles. Also, the snap ring holding on Drum Rollers is very small. Had to go to True Value and get a mini set of snap rings for pliers to get off (very small). The Axle and Support Roller nearest the Heating Element was the squealing issue. 

Replaced both drum support rollers and drum roller axles.
