How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012914 / WP8531288 Silverware Basket

While cleaning and inspecting the interior of the dishwasher I found a crack in the plastic water supply pipi ( manifold ) that led to the upper sprayer. There also was a lot of debris where food and waste is ground up by the dishwasher. I clean that out put everything back together and the dishwasher works fine. 

Replaced 

With the outstanding help of Appliance Parts Pro, my wife is the happiest she has been since I gave her a new spark plug wrench. 

Exchanged old basket for new. Yay! Now I have more than one little place to put my silverware! I ordered my basket with regular shipping and it was here in 2 days! 

Just pulled old basket out put new one in. Same with Retainer. The Retainer took a minute to figure out which way it clamped on the tines. Easy though. 

We needed to replace the basket. 

Ordered a replacement basket. Had previously ordered parts for another appliance and service was exceptional! 

Pure simple replacement. Pull out the old empty the silverware and put in the new. Note that this does NOT come with the knife holder that flips up and down over the center sections of the basket. 

Ordered a new rack and inserted it in the bottom rack. Removed the two flaps from the top of the old unit and snapped them in place on the new unit. 10 seconds. 

New one was the exact same thing. Easy fix
