How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4023880 / 206638 Siphon Break

Replaced the Siphon Break. The clamp that came with the siphon break was TOO SMALL and I had to make a special trip to town to buy another one at a cost of @ $3.00. It took forever to try to get the clamp to fit which it doesn't. 

The project was to replace the broken hose on an old Maytag stackable washer and dryer. Actually, the unit, is 31 years old. I did not expect to find a replacement part but have used AppliancePartsPros before and was surprised to find I could still get it brand new. It was not easy to do but certainly was achievable. The dryer had to be taken off the top of the washing machine to gain access to the broken part at the back of the washing machine's top right-hand corner. But it fits perfectly and resolves the problem completely. I would highly recommend AppliancePartsPros for any repair to any appliance that you may have. 

The mounting stem was very loose. Replaced the mounting stem kit along with the tub bearing kit, which fixed the problem. 

Replaced the anti-siphon valve. 

Fix was easy. Went through the back access panel, changed the hose, and reattached. 

The injector valve had a small hole in it. When I took it out I did not see it but after I got the new one I was concern that I got the wrong item but then noticed that I have to remove the hard plastic piece firm the old one and reuse it. It was an easy fix and I ordered siphon break because I saw it was a little wet I am glad I did because it needed to be replaced. Now the washer from 1985 is working as the day I got it, the good old Maytag. 

I began by watching some of your very helpful videos. I removed the front panel and ran a wash cycle to see where the leak was originating. I assumed I would find a leaking tub seal. However, the leak was actually coming from the siphon break. I replaced that part with a new one and all is working fine now. The only challenge was removing the original hose "clamp" connecting the hose to the siphon break. It was not really a clamp but rather a solid non-adjustable ring (I have no idea how that original "clamp" was installed and tightened....as there is no way to loosen or tighten it). After attempting to snip it off with pliers, I eventually just pulled the siphon break free from the hose while the original "clamp" was still attached....and then pulled the "clamp" off from the end of the hose. 

Replaced the siphon break. 

Water was not leaking at water pump but at siphon break. Ordered new siphon break kit and installed, fixed my leak. 

Removed old part and installed new one. Your video really helped! Cleaned inside washer and put back together. Great to save the money!
