How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010168 / WP63907 Suspension Spring

Replacing the 4 suspension springs and leveling the washer. The videos were very helpful. The parts that I ordered were shipped really fast. 

Replaced all springs and the bars that hold them in place. I appreciate the “how-to” videos and the parts diagram on the web site. It helps me recognize a self help project compared to one that requires a professional repair. Thank you 

#1 Watched the video, #2 identified the problem, #3 ordered the parts, #4 followed the video directions, #5 reassembled washing machine and it now works like a champ... I am an aircraft mechanic and was unsure of what the problem was. The video identified the problem and the rest was a piece of cake. 

I noticed my older Kenmore washer was going crazy and spinning erratically. First I unplugged it and then opened it up with some caution because I had never worked on a washer before. I noticed one of the springs had rusted and broken off in the back near the bottom. To make a long story short, I replaced all 4 springs ( the 3 short suspension springs underneath and the 1 back counterbalance spring) I used a wrench and a tried a needle nose plyer. I also replaced the white pads underneath the frame. I was careful not to pull the wiring by unhooking it and making sure things were balanced by checking the floor and top of the machine. I also turned all the water off beforehand. I put everything back together and it works great! I saved about $450 by fixing up my old machine spending about $20.

Followed video for replacing three AP6010168 suspension springs and single WPW10250667 suspension spring. Ordered 285744 tub suspension pads but did not use them (needed spanner wrench). "Walking" and vibration gone, old springs were not broken/disconnected, probably just tension gone. Fantastic low cost, do it yourself repair. 

I removed cabinet per online instruction and found that one of the tub suspension pads was missing with no sign of it ever being there and some metal on metal wear present and other pads were fine. I ordered and installed a pad and also ordered a set of suspension springs and installed them too. I compared old springs to new and found they had lost tension. Machine runs quiet even spinning now. Amazing such a simple fix can eliminate balance problems and noise/vibration and rattling when spinning. BTW, I got machine used from my daughter who was moving and decided to repair and use it, while I inspect and either repair my old HD Kenmore or buy a new one. Runs like new. 

I changed the counterbalance spring and the suspension springs. 

The Appliance Parts Pros videos were excellent in showing how to fix the leak, identify the parts and tools required. The customer reviews also gave great information, especially the link showing how to reverse the Tub Wrench to remove the tub. 

After watching a few videos on the site, they made it pretty evident what the problem was and how to correct it. The videos made it look so simple to repair that I decided to try it. I order the recommended parts from the videos, less than $50 with shipping. I paid a little extra for the shipping to get the parts quicker. ($3.00 extra). Amazingly, the parts arrived early the next morning. I watched the easy to follow videos and by that afternoon, it was complete. The repair worked so well, that my wife was amazed.She said it ran better and quieter than when we first bought it. An extra $600+ in my pocket for an easy couple hours of work. Who could ask for more.
