Replaced the three balance springs, the spring mounting clips, and the vertical centering spring. Easy to do; only a Philips screwdriver to flip up the console so as to be able to rock the outer body forward and remove. The hardened springs vibrating in the hardened clips had worn grooves; one finally snapped and the spin wouldn't center.
This single wonderful Kenmore washer, bought new in 1991, has gotten us through three kids and three dogs, thanks to robust design and great aftermarket part support. Talking with friends and family, this one is far better in actually cleaning clothes than any other of the high-zoot Johnny-come-lately appliances.
Our matching Kenmore dryer and Kenmore dishwasher have fared equally well for twenty-nine years.
