How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010168 / WP63907 Washer Suspension Spring

I ordered the 3 suspension springs (WP63907) and 1 counter suspension spring (WPW10250667) to replace the worn out, stretched old springs. I also noticed when replacing these that the agitator was worn out as well and ordered a whole new one (WPW10093672) along with a new agitator washer (WP8543666) and new agitator bolt (WP358237). My machine will be like new again.

Replace all the springs. Really only needed one replaced. But I figured might as well put all new 

We replaced all the suspension springs (after watching a few youtube videos). Not too difficult. Just did 2 loads of washing and problem solved! 

I probably would have been fine just replacing one spring, but I could see the wear on the mounting brackets, so I decided to replace all the springs and all the brackets. For $30, why not just take care of all of it? The video on appliancepartspros helped with replacing the spring, but the video was lacking a step in taking the washing machine apart. Luckily, I was able to find a diagram of the washing machine online. 

Watched several videos on the repairs most likely needed to fix my problem. I had bought my washer/dryer used and the washer had always had a pretty good shake/vibration when spinning, but had recently become even more violent. Searched for the recommended parts and discovered Appliance Parts Pros.com. Also watched videos associated with the parts I needed to replace which were with the listings of those parts. Needed were the suspension springs, tub spring, and the balance ring. I replaced them all myself, problem solved! 

While I was troubleshooting my ice maker with Mike, who was awesome, I asked some questions about my washing machine. It seemed to me that the tub was off its moorings. I ordered a central suspension spring and three lateral suspension springs and two spring mounting brackets. When the parts arrived. I followed the video to take the machine apart. The central suspension spring was on the floor, not attached at either end, rusted through. One of the three lateral springs was rusted along with the mounting bracket. I sprayed the nut with lubricant and removed the mounting bracket. Using hand tools plus my feet and legs I was able to install the new mount and spring. Thankfully I do yoga! Put everything back together and the washer works great. Twister Success!

I spoke with customer service rep. I described the problem and ordered 3 Suspensions Springs, One self leveling leg spring and a counterbalance spring kit since the washer was going to be down, I thought why take a chance and replace all of them at one time. When I received an email of the order it had the repair videos for each springs embedded in the email. This is huge! What a great idea! When the parts came in, I opened the email and watched the repair videos instead of hunting through the web site. The counterbalance spring set was suppose to have 3 springs in the kit however it only had 2. I called customer service. and they were great! They sent another set overnight to me and the machine is no longer making scraping noise and working as designed. Appliance Parts Pros. have a great business model. I don't know why everyone on the net is not following this approach. Way to go guys, I will be using you in the future. 

Ordered a fresh set of springs for my Whirlpool Washer. Installation went smoothly and washer is much quieter! So much better to fix it myself than pay for a house call!
