How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013514 / WP8577274 Thermistor

I emailed customer service to see if they had a video on how to access the heater element. They provided the exact video I needed. I ordered the parts and they worked perfectly. I also appreciated the fact that ALL parts were factory OEM. 

Dryer was still working but without heat, so we thought that the sensors must still be working but the heating element was not. Researching it on Appliance parts the sensors were a common failure so I decided if I was going to be taking it apart I was going to replace them as well. The videos made it easy and all replacements went smoothly, the heating element had failed and the coil had broken. After replacing the parts it was heating and working again. 

Replaced thermal fuse, igniter coils, igniter, and thermister. 

Got the parts super fast, only two days! Installed the thermistor and the dryer thermal fuse with the help of your videos! Didn’t need the heating element connecting wire. 

Replaced the parts purchased based on Appliance Parts Pros site recommendations saying these are the most common culprits. Their video was also helpful in doing the repair. Overall, easy repair to take apart the dryer and put back together. 

Replaced the thermistor and fuse 

I checked the resistance on the heating coil. Confirmed it was bad. Purchased new unit from Appliance Parts Pros installed in about 5 minutes 

I replaced more parts than necessary, but, it has been my experience with old electronics is that when you replace one part the next in line will fail. So I replaced the thermistor, thermal fuse, igniter and the two gas valve coils. To troubleshoot the dryer I set the dryer to a quick dry mode and watched the flame cycle on and off. To make sure it was the part I thought it was I shorted the thermal fuse with with a clip lead and cycled the dryer again. It turns out that the thermal fuse was failing and that part alone would have fixed it. 

Replaced the 2 parts ordered. 

We replaced the thermistor and its fuse. I really appreciate APP having how-to videos for these parts. It made it relatively easy to determine what was wrong, what parts to replace, and exactly how to get to those parts. On top of that, my order was processed immediately and I received it within a couple of days. Thanks so much! I will say this could have been done solo but because our dryer is stacked onto the washer, I had my husband help. I was able to lift the dryer with the door open just a quarter of an inch so he could get to the screws at the base. We didn’t have to bring the dryer off the washer.
