How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5989759 / W10853723 Water Inlet Valve

Ordered a replacement water inlet valve and it resolved the problem. 

Ordered new water intake valve to fix leak. Used you tube to get directions to fix it. Took about hour! Not the handiest but fixed it. 

Watched youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBM-h9MIXQU) video on how to replace and it fixed the problem. Not hard at all after watching video. 

I was fearful of trying to tackle this problem, but have learned in the past dozen years, that I am capable of doing more than I thought I could. Being a widow, I can not always afford a repairman. I was elated, when I found your site. I ordered the part (with a Prayer that It would be the right fit) on Thursday and had it in hand by the following Tuesday. My daughter and I replaced the part and had the washer running in less than 30 minutes. Thank you for your quick service and for being able to supply us with a fitting replacement! 

I’m a 70 year old female who lives 70 miles from nearest town. Found out the problem by watching YouTube. Couldn’t figure out how to access the part. Found this web site, found the part, watched the how to video, accessed the part, ordered and installed, fixed in four days. All super easy. 

I first cleaned the filters on the water inlet valve, but had no luck. I then replaced the water inlet hoses, but the error code still came up. After some research, it seemed like the most likely culprit was either the water inlet valve or the water pressure sensor. Since the water level never rose to abnormal levels, I assumed that the water inlet valve was the problem. I ordered the part and used the extremely helpful replacement videos on this site to replace the valve and it worked perfectly. You could visibly see the difference in water pressure as the washing machine filled up for a load.

Replaced this water inlet valve since it was dripping after wash cycle was completed. This is for a high energy efficiency model. The price was fantastic. I had also purchased a 5 piece roller set from Appliance Parts Pro for the companion Dryer that was squeeking. 4 rollers that the drum sits on plus the roller that drives the drum belt were included. Both the Maytag Bravos Washer & Dryer are 20+ years old...so the replacement parts for both, purchased from Appliance Parts Pro were very inexpensive and installed by this homeowner, saving hundreds of dollars!
