How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006209 / WP22001274 Washer Water Inlet Valve

Replaced the water inlet valve. It was super easy. The video from AppliancePartsPros.com was a key factor in this repair. I was prepared to take the top off of the washer but the video showed how the water inlet valve was accessible from the back without disassembling anything on the washer. 

After troubleshooting with the help of AppliancePartsPros.com. I was able to test the water level switch and check the hose that goes to the switch. The only part left was the water valve unit which was very easy to replace and so far everything is working fine. Thanks, AppliancPartsPros for your videos and help. 

Replaced the inlet valve from AppliancePartsPros and with the help of a video, got it fixed in about a 1/2 hour. 

Water fill valve replaced. 

Shut water off, unplug machine, remove hoses, remove 3 screws. Hey just watch the video. This was one of the easiest repair you can do. The hardest portion was moving the washing machine to get to the back of machine 

Replaced the old water valve in the washer.

Replaced Water inlet valve. Old inlet valve internal filter was full of rust/debris obstructing water flow to a trickle. The washing machine is 26 years old so I decided to replace the valve instead of trying to clean the internal filter. 

My machine is 25 years old and has been extremely reliable. I noticed my clothes weren’t as dry after a load sat before putting into dryer. Then I noticed a drip from water inlet into drum that would not stop. After googling it I decided to try to fix myself. Initially I removed water valve and tried CLR since we do have hard water, but it did not work. So I ordered new valve and bought new water level pressure switch hose too as long as machine was accessible. I was glad I did because that was clogged half-way. I ended up buying new water supply hoses too. Total repair was about $150. Be careful threading supply hoses onto plastic valve as miss threads do damage it. This site is fantastic for easily finding parts for appliances and the videos that accompany are great. I have fixed my dryer and oven with their help in the past. 

Replaced valve. The old one did not have a good a flow as this one at least the cold water is noticeably stronger than the original. Clamp on hose was tricky.
