How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3953640 / 280187 Washer Drain Pump Assembly

Ordered this part for a Kenmore Elite HE 3t -- I was a little worried it wouldnt work.. Fit like a charm. I did find it easier to hook up the hoses first then mount the pump but, to each their own. Used this company maybe 5-6 times, each time was perfect and plenty of good instructions. Shipping was fast and unit was well packaged. 

Ordered a new drain pump assembly and replaced the pump and screen assembly. 

I removed the cover and removed the pump and replaced it with the new pump from AppliancePartsPros.com and now it works like new! 

Ordered replacement pump. Exact part number. Direct fit. The pump was ordered and replaced in less than 1-week thanks to AppliancePartsPros.com. 

I watched the video provided on the product page, then jumped right in. The entire process was pretty simple. The toughest part was getting the hose clamps off because whoever put them on thought it would be funny to put the clamp parts on the side instead of the top so they were hard to get to. Once I got those off and turned them for easier access, it took about 5 minutes to install the new pump. My washer is working like new again!

Ordered online what I thought was the right water pump. But was not so called and talked to a wonderful lady who found the right pump very quickly. Got it ordered and sent return info. Got new part when she said I would. Put it back together and am up and running. Sorry didn’t catch the ladies name….THANK YOU!!! 

Replacing the pump solved the problem. The hose clamps were a pain. 

Received new pump promptly and replaced according to the video. It was an easy quick fix. New pump works fantastic and unit is quiet. Did make note that I should open the debris catch on the new pump every year or 2. The old pump had coins, a nail, screw and numerous pieces of plastic in the catch portion so I’m sure that wasn’t helping matters. Thank you for keeping my 13 year old whirlpool running like a champ! 

F21 after tub would fill with water and pump would start and buzz very loudly. The pump Motor was very warm. I purchased new pump from appliance parts plus. Installed pump And machine cycles like it should
