How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3103466 / 4318046 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve

I ordered a new water valve and everything is back to normal. 

Replaced the ice maker and installed new water valve. The replacement parts were a perfect fit. Watched the "how to" video for an added comfort level 

Put new one in, watched your installation video, made it an easy fix. 

Replaced the valve 

Replaced solenoid valves on Whirlpool refrigerator ice maker/water dispenser. Please note that the written instructions need to be updated to reflect the use of push-in water line connections as reflected in the video. Actual time spent includes long needed vacuuming of dust/lint and very limited access in cramped kitchen. Part was ordered over the weekend and arrived by 11:00 a.m.Tuesday. 

Replaced with new valve. Made mounting plate. 

Replaced water valve 

With the part I ordered. Valve/solenoid in back of fridge. I didn't shove the water line in all the way the first time and it leaked. So, I had to release it and was successful on the second try. It clicked in. 

I received the water valve in two days; It was amazingly fast and no extra charge. I had to move the refrigerator and shut the water; remove six screws to have access to the valve. I removed two screws holding the valve and disconnect the two electrical connectors. The connectors have different colors and sizes so you cannot make a mistake there. The water connectors are color coded and different size so no mistake there either. The only change was the water connectors, the old valve had plastic screwable connectors; the new valve had push-in locks. It was as simple as cutting the plastic tubes and insert them into the push-in locks, connect wires, secure the valve, close the back access and turn the water back on. I let the water run and the refrigerator is working fine ever since. 

Entered the model number on the AppliancePartsPros website. Found what I thought was the part, partially removed the leaky valve to verify I had found the right part, and ordered the part. My order was at 3:00 Friday afternoon. The part arrived at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and was replaced within 24 hours of my order.
