Washer would fill but then would not agitate or spin there was a burning rubber smell Karen G. • Katonah , NY • November 28, 2014
All's well that ends well, but the getting there was a bit of a pain. The web site suggests 3 possible causes for my problem (incl. the burning smell). I began with the first two since they were inexpensive compared to the motor, which was the third cause (and also the least often cause). There is no way to visibly tell if the motor is bad or not.
After replacing the clutch assembly, which did have some plastic pins broken off) and the motor coupling (which actually looked fine, but the...

Washing machine would shake so bad during the spin cycle that it would move about a foot Charles L. • Arroyo Grande , CA • April 17, 2017
I first checked to make sure the washer was level. The washer is on a concrete floor. After watching lots of you tube videos I ordered all the parts that could be causing this problem. I ordered: Balance Ring, Suspension Pad Kit (3 rectangle plastic wear pads), Tub Suspension Pads(3 curved plastic wear pads), Suspension Spring, and a Spanner Wrench tool. After getting the washer apart it was obvious that the problem was the Tub Suspension Pads they had completely worn away so that only the...

Rusted motor shield that had rotted away James N. • Gastonia , NC • February 16, 2015
The repair was simple. Having used Appliance Parts Pro in the past for much needed repair parts, I simply unplugged the machine, turned off the water and removed the drain hose and slid unit forward. I then removed the top control panel like last time, tilted the body forward and set it aside. I unfastened the upper hose to the water pump and slid what was left of the old shield out and slid the new replacement shield back into place then reattached the flex hose. The shield slipped right...
