Ge microwave ran when turned off if door was shut Jason A. • Cary , NC • April 02, 2017
The first symptom was our microwave would continue to run after the time was up. The light would go out, the turn table would stop but you could still hear the microwave running and whatever was in it would continue to cook. The only way to stop it was to open the door. It was intermittent at first but eventually it would always run no matter what as long as the door was closed. Several other posts referenced these switches as the problem. I just replaced both and problem gone. It turns out...

The Fuse is an OEM part for GE microwaves. It serves as a safety device designed to protect the microwave from excessive current that can cause overheating and potential fire hazards. When the current flowing through the microwave circuit exceeds a certain level, the fuse blows or breaks, cutting off the power to prevent damage or fire.
Common causes for a fuse to blow include power surges, faulty wiring within the appliance, or the use of microwave inappropriate containers that cause sparks. It is essential to address these issues not only to replace the fuse but also to correct the underlying problems to prevent future failures.
Symptoms of a bad fuse include:
- The microwave suddenly stops working.
- No signs of power or response even when the microwave door is closed and the start button is pressed.
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

The GE Advantium Oven completely shut down. No lights, no sign of life at all. Denny E. • Waynesboro , VA • March 14, 2014
I read on line about other such ovens doing the same thing mine was doing, absolutely nothing!
I even read stories of a major retailer telling customers to throw the microwave away. There's nothing you can do to fix it. After replacing a simple fuse that I ordered from you, the Advantium is as good as new. It took a grand total of 5 minutes to make the repair. The shipping cost more than the part, but it was all very worthwhile.

Convert microwave from recycling vent to an external vent system Gaspar D. • Summerfield , NC • December 31, 2015
We followed the manufacturer's instructions about re-positioning the fan motor and installing the vent damper (easy). We constructed a duct system from the microwave to the outside of the house (challenging). We used 3.25" x 10" metal duct to start the system through the wall behind the microwave, where we added framing to reinforce a cut stud. We ran the duct up a closet wall and through its ceiling into the attic. We had to make an offset duct piece from 3.25" x 10" metal duct to clear a...

This high-voltage rectifier diode is used in the microwave's high-voltage circuit. It converts AC to DC so the magnetron can produce heat. A failed diode can cause no heat, loud humming, or a blown fuse when starting. What it does:
- Rectifies high-voltage AC to DC to power the magnetron
- Blocks reverse voltage in the HV circuit
- Common failure symptoms can include: runs but doesn't heat; loud hum then shutdown; line fuse blows at startup
What's included:
Install notes:
- Unplug the microwave and properly discharge the high-voltage capacitor before servicing—dangerous voltage can remain even when unplugged
- Match diode orientation/polarity to the original and ensure a solid chassis ground connection where used
- Route leads and reinstall any clamps/insulators exactly as found; keep wiring clear of sharp edges and hot components
- If the original diode failed, inspect the HV capacitor and transformer for related issues before reassembly

Broken handle on microwave Stephen K. • Gilbert , AZ • August 29, 2015
My particular model of microwave had one screw visible but the other hidden behind a plastic ring. I needed to pop the ring out by disengaging the plastics clips using a putty knife; then it was an easy job of unscrewing the old handle and screwing the new one in. It probably took me just as long to write this description as it did to actually replace the handle.

A replacement magnetron assembly that generates the microwave energy used for cooking and reheating. Installs in countertop and over-the-range microwave ovens to restore normal heating performance when the magnetron fails. What it does:
- Produces high-frequency microwave energy that heats food inside the oven cavity.
- Commonly replaces a unit when the microwave stops heating or heats very weakly.
- Can address symptoms like no/poor heating, intermittent heating, or loud humming from the oven during operation.
- Not a control or capacitor—this part is the microwave-generating tube and works with the oven's HV system.
What's included: One magnetron assembly. Install notes:
- Always disconnect power and unplug the appliance before starting service.
- The high-voltage capacitor can retain a dangerous charge; discharge properly.
- Handle the magnetron carefully; avoid touching terminals or the antenna.
- Follow OEM instructions and safety guidelines for reassembly and testing.
