The Gas Valve Cooktop is an OEM part for Bosch cooktops. This valve is responsible for controlling the flow of gas to the burners on the cooktop. It opens and closes to allow gas to pass through when a burner is turned on and stops the flow of gas when the burner is turned off.

Causes of a bad gas valve can include wear and tear over time, issues with the valve mechanism such as stuck or blocked components, or damage from exposure to moisture or impact.

Symptoms of a bad gas valve include:

  • Burners not lighting or sparking repeatedly without igniting
  • Uneven or unpredictable burner flame heights
  • Burners not getting hot enough for cooking
  • Burners that cannot be turned on or off
  • Gas leaks around the valve area

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore cooktop models.

Questions & Answers

For Bosch Gas Valve (Part Number: OEM8486526)

1 Answer

Hello Swen, This can be the gas valve or a dirty burner/orifice. Strip the plastic from a bread tie and use it to chase the orifice opening. If there is any spill sediments on the burner, remove them with an old toothbrush and hot white vinegar. If these two things do not correct your issue, replace the valve. To give you the exact part number, you would have to provide the complete model number from the units' I.D. tag. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

John Z for Model Number GGS30

Really hoping someone can help me out. Recently bought a house with an older GGS30, Thermador, gas cooktop. The two left burners were not sparking and the gas tube connector on the front one was sealed. I was able to remove the gas tube connector with a drill. While waiting for a new gas tube connector, I purchased two spark ignition switches and spark electrodes. I installed them both and the rear burner began working fine. Then, the red indicator light went on and the rear burner stopped working. When I received the gas tube connector, I installed it for the front left. But, it made no difference and now the two left burners do not spark or release gas. The two right ones continue to work fine. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

John, With both the front and rear burner not sparking this issue would most likely be caused by a faulty spark module or simmer control.

Joe, If the nut is damaged during removal then yes they would need to be removed. There is a tool that can be used but a lot of times the tool will not work and if you take a cresent wrench and open it to the size of the hole and put it down in there and then use a screwdriver to twist the cresent wrench you can normally get the part off.

Hello Eric, You need to check for a proper ground to the burner base area since losing the ground will cause the ignitor not to have ground for the high tension spark to arc over to. The spark module or the spark switch could be an issue if you hear no clicking when the left rear burner is energized. The potentiometer (start switch) part number is 00422748, the simmer control part number is 00422882. The kit containing two potentiometers and the simmer control is 00497234.

Ernie, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty burner valve for the burner not working. The solenoid supplies gas to both burners and if the solenoid was bad then it would not light either side.

Broken burner, With one of the 2 burners on the left getting gas but the other not, this issue would be the simmer control not turning the solenoid on for gas for the burner.

Charles, With no gas flowing even though the unit is sparking would be caused by a faulty solenoid 00411253 for the left burners.

Rache for Model Number Thermador PRSG304S gas range

The Left Front xlo burner has ceased working; when I turn the control nob to turn on the burner, the igniter comes on as normal but no gas comes out. When I try the same thing on the rear xlo burner, all works correctly. I am thinking that the solenoid valve is the issue. What else could it be? Can you please send me the repair manual for this range? Also, could you please point to the correct parts for this repair on your website. Thank you! RachE

1 Answer

Rache, If the issue was the solenoid then neither burner on the one side will work. This issue would be the burner valve.
