The Bake Element is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire ovens and ranges. Located at the bottom of the oven cavity. This fundamental component produces the heat needed for baking, roasting, and heating functions.

Causes of bake element problems involve normal wear from repeated heat cycles and heavy-duty use over many years. Extended exposure to high oven temperatures can degrade fragile coil filaments.

Symptoms of a faulty bake element include:

  • Uneven or inadequate heating for baking/roasting recipes
  • Slow or inefficient preheating of oven interior
  • Oven temperature failing to reach desired settings
  • Element coil is visibly discolored or deteriorated

This OEM Frigidaire replacement element is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, and Kelvinator appliance brands.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Bake Element (Part Number: OEM11259687)

1 Answer

Joyce, It appears that to remove the heating element you will need to remove the oven bottom using a flat blade screwdriver, remove the rear panel of the range to remove the wires and then you should be able to lift it out. If there are screws holding the element in place then it would be Phillips head screws that hold it in place.

Oven doesn't work properly. Sometimes heats fine, other times out on 350, only heats to about 220. Getting 240v to main power terminal, and to black and red wires at circuit board. Checked it and getting 116v to 117v at each terminal of the name heating element when oven set to 350. Name element, when disconnected shows 19 ohms, and doesn't show being shifted out. The spacing grids that keep the turns of the element in place are kind of burnt and broken in 2 places at the front. Also the oven temp probe shows 1072 ohms at room temp of about 66 degrees. Is it element or probe or the circuit board?

1 Answer

Sam, for the range to intermittently fail to reach the set temperature, the failure would most likely be in the oven control 316557118 based on the information provided.

Craig, While we do not have an exact resistance of the element it should be in the range of approximately 20 to 30 ohms.

Hello Robert, Once the two screws 3131732 are removed from the bottom panel you will need to lift the rear of the panel 316400601 and slide the panel to the rear of the bake compartment. This will slip the panel out of the lip at the front for the panels' removal.

I turned on the oven the other day and after 30 secs or so I heard a loud, muffled pop. The oven did not heat up, and I turned it off after several minutes. Checking things out, I found that the oven doesn't heat, the broiler doesn't work, but the warming drawer seems to work. Also, the oven/timer clock control /readout works; if I turn the oven or broiler on the panel shows that they are on. If it is the terminal block for the oven, where is it located?

1 Answer

Sam, The terminal block 5304409888 on your range, is located on the back of the machine, lower center area of the back panel, you will most likely have to remove the back panel or the terminal block cover from the back panel. Did you try and turn on the cooktop element burners ? If they come on and glow red, then you have 220-240 VAC to and in the range. Since neither oven element works, you most likely have a damaged L2 "common" wire between the EOC/Clock and the oven elements, or the L2 in and out circuits in the control has failed and there is no power to the elements.

Robert, With the unit not heating in the bake, with the bake element being replaced, the part that would be needed is the clock assembly part number 316418500.

Hello Mike. The voltage should be 240 VAC. If it is low, either the breaker is bad or the control for the unit is bad. The element should read closed for continuity.

Mary, While it is possible that the element is the issue but it sounds like since the broil and bake are not working that you would want to check the terminal block to make sure that there is no damage to it. If that checks ok then it may be an issue with the control board of the unit.
