The Compressor Run Capacitor is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This electrical component is essential for providing the necessary torque to start and maintain the operation of the compressor motor, which is responsible for cooling the refrigerator.

Symptoms of a failing compressor run capacitor include:

  • The refrigerator not running or cooling properly
  • The compressor failing to start or running intermittently
  • Humming or buzzing noises coming from the compressor area

Causes of needing to replace the compressor run capacitor can include normal wear over time, exposure to high temperatures or electrical surges, or physical damage to the capacitor itself.

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore refrigerator models.

For Frigidaire Compressor Run Capacitor (Part Number: OEM12947568)

Jeff for Model Number Frigidaire Appliance FPHS2699KF0

My problem is the refrigerator seems to being having a problem trying to "kick" on. When it does you can hear it going through a power cycle several times in a row in a matter of a few seconds. During which time the Power failure light and "beeping" sounds go off on the front panel. Kind of like when you loose power in your home and then it comes back on and you have to reset the panel on the unit. Which I do but I need to do this several times during the day. Could this be the compressor run capacitor?

Jeff, If the compressor is constantly trying to cycle then you would want to do an amp draw and see what kind of amperage there is when it starts up. If it is drawing anything over 9 amps then the compressor would most likely be the cause. If it starts but shuts down after a couple of seconds then it sounds like the start relay may not be kicking over to the run winding or the run winding on the compressor is faulty.

Rob, If the compressor is not running then the most likely cause for failure would be a bad compressor or a bad PTC Starter 218721108.

Art, The 4 flashing on the refrigerator side would indicate a damper failure. You will want to check the wiring between damper and main control board. If correct replace damper and if the problem persist replace the control board.

Mike, There is not a reset button on the unit. You will want to check to see if the fans are running, lights on, compressor running and see if the compressor is hot or cold. If the compressor is warm, then the unit may be in a defrost cycle if no fans are running. Let sit for about 45 minutes and if the fans and compressor do not come back on then you may have a bad defrost board. Try to unplug and let it sit for 15 minutes to reset everything and then plug back up. If unit still does not come on the defrost control or themostat would need to be replaced.

Royr, You will want to check to see if the compressor is running. If compressor is not running then you will want to check the start relay 5304491584 on the side of the compressor. When you pull the relay look for charred marks on the casing of the part close to where it would plug into the compressor. If it is charred then it will need to be replaced.

Hello Luckey. You will need to test for power to the evaporator fan motor. If there is power there and it does not work, you will need to replace the fan motor. If the fan is running, but the damper in the top is not opening, you may need to replace the damper assembly. Also, make sure the coils in the freezer are not frosted over indicating a defrost issue. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
