The Compressor Run Capacitor is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This electrical component is essential for providing the necessary torque to start and maintain the operation of the compressor motor, which is responsible for cooling the refrigerator.

Symptoms of a failing compressor run capacitor include:

  • The refrigerator not running or cooling properly
  • The compressor failing to start or running intermittently
  • Humming or buzzing noises coming from the compressor area

Causes of needing to replace the compressor run capacitor can include normal wear over time, exposure to high temperatures or electrical surges, or physical damage to the capacitor itself.

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore refrigerator models.

For Frigidaire Compressor Run Capacitor (Part Number: OEM12947568)

Paul, You can pull the wires off the start relay and check to see if there is 120 vac getting to the relay. If there is then the relay is most likely going to be the cause of failure. The relay is part number 241941003.

Greg for Model Number 253.9183512

I recently purchased a used kenmore chest freezer, manufactured 10-99. It seems to work fairly well, it keeps the food frozen. However the compressor or fan doesn't seem to shut off. I can turn it down to a lower temp and force it to shut off, it then comes back on after a few minutes and doesn't seem to turn off? There is also an odd clicking noise in the upper left corner of the freezer, it is not very loud. Just looking for some guidance on my new used purchased. The Serial number is WB94234406. Thanks.

Hello Greg, You need to check and see if the temp control 216562400 is bad on the unit. If so, it can cause the issue your having with the unit.

Sarah, Based on the description of the problem the run capacitor would not be the issue. If the compressor comes on but shuts off after 30 seconds then the run winding on the compressor is faulty and would need to be replaced. If the relay comes on and clicks after 30 seconds then the relay would be faulty.

Kate D for Model Number GE Profile PSRS6PGZSS ????

I have a problem with my ice cubes produced by the Kelvinator "side by side refrigerator-freezer" that I have. When the ice cubes are added to water you can see white flakes/particles floating about in the water as the ice melts. I have checked the water filters (black type-carbon) and the water inside and coming through is clear and so is the water coming out of the water dispenser where the ice cubes are also dispensed through a different dispenser. The ice cubes removed by hand from the ice cube compartment have also the same problem. The water that enters the refrigerator is also filtered by reverse osmosis. I suspect that this is some microbes (maybe yeast/fungi) and may be growing between the water filter and ice maker or does it come from a tubing???. The model number is KSPZ25V9AB5 and it was bought in Cyprus about 10 years ago but it is similar to FMW240EN0W or -N1W or -N2W and also it is similar to the model GE Profile PSRS6PGZSS. Please, can you help? Many thanks.

Kate, The white particles that are created by the ice is actually coming through in your water. This is calcium that is solidifying when the water freezes. Things that will cause this would be over filtering the water and living in a very hard water area. Hard water is caused by calcium in the water and if it is really high in the area that you live in, unless you have a water softener then there will still be some that passes through the filtration system. On the over filtering of the water. With having the unit on a reverse osmosis system, you would not want to have any other water filter system on the unit. If there is a filter in the unit then remove it and flush about 10 gallons of water through the system. This should help to clear it up.

Jenny, The run capacitor should either sit on top of the overload relay or just have wire that connect to it that would be able to be disconnected. If the unit is not cooling and the relay is clicking then the start relay would be faulty as opposed to the run capacitor.

Karen, There are several switches involved in making the refrigerator operate and cool. You'll need to listen closely when the refrigerator starts to cool, if you hear a clicking noise from the back of the refrigerator, the issue could be a faulty start relay/overload on the compressor 5304491941, but based on the information and intermittent cooling, the first thought would be a faulty ADC(adaptive defrost control)Board 5303918476. This control board controls power to the compressor and the defrost cycle. If there is a weak or faulty circuit in the control board, it could cause the compressor to operate intermittently and have periods of no cooling, then operate the compressor.
