Hello Donald. No, it does not sound like the capacitor. If the compressor is running, and it is cooling, but not freezing, you have a sealed system failure and will need to have an certified HVAC tech to come out and service the unit.

Joe for Model Number LFHT1713LWZ

I have a frigidaire, and have been having problems with the freezer not freezing food, I have done some troubleshooting on the following items, temperature control, defrost thermostat and control, cleaned the debris from the condenser coils, and checked the winding on the compressor, I was wondering if the run start capacitor could be faulty and if so what signs would I be looking for. I'm Going to troubleshoot it, just was wondering if this could be the problem because on the frigidaire website it states that this is one of the issues with the freezer not getting cold, that could occur from a bad capacitor. Thank you.

Wayne, It would be more likely that you would need a new start relay but would not hurt to put a capacitor on as well.
