The Defrost Control Board is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This board manages the defrost cycle by controlling the activation of the defrost heater and the monitoring of the freezer's temperature.

Over time, the defrost control board can fail due to electrical issues, wear from continuous use, or damage from power surges.

Symptoms of a bad defrost control board include:

  • Excessive frost buildup in the freezer compartment
  • The refrigerator not cooling properly
  • The defrost heater not activating
  • Frequent cycling on and off of the refrigerator

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

For Frigidaire Defrost Control Board (Part Number: OEM13682307)

Hello Sean, When this units' condenser fan is running, so should the evaporator fan motor. If it has tested good, I would look for an issue with the wiring harness or a connector to correct the problem described.

Martin, This issue would most likely not be caused by the defrost control. You will want to access the back wall of the freezer and check the frost pattern on the evaporator coils. A full, even frost pattern is what you will be looking for. If the coils are impacted with frost or ice then it would be a defrost issue, but since the refrigerator section is operating fine then the it most likely will not be this. If the evaporator has just a couple of loops that have frost on them, then the issue will be more likely a sealed system problem. This will either pertain to a leak or a restriction in the sealed system.

Hello Chelsey. The only yellow/red listed on your model is the auger motor. Check and see if the wire color you provided is correct. It is not showing it in the control panel. Thanks.

Charlotte, The places that the defrost control would most likely be would be in the refrigerator compartment under the cover on the left wall or when you remove the lower grill of the refrigerator it would be on the frame on the left side near the door hinge.

Shootemandeatem, You will first want to check to see if the condenser fan motor is operational and that the coils are clean. If the fan motor is not working it will cause the compressor to overheat and will cause the buzzing noise. You will also want to check your start relay to make sure that the relay is not burnt. If it is then you will need to replace the relay. If all this checks ok and relay has no burn marks and doesn't rattle then the compressor would be faulty and need to be replaced.
