I have frigidaire lffh17f7hwc freezer and the light inside was blinking on and off and the temp on the control panel was reading 1 degree C. I unplugged the freezer from the wall and waited about 5 minutes, plugged it back in and the compressor came on and the temp went back to showing -17 and freezer seemed to be working normal (Food frozen). Today, the control panel was reading 1 degree C, so I unplugged the freezer for about 5 minutes and plugged it back in and the control panel continues to read 1 degree C and the compressor does not come on. The food is still frozen, but I believe I have a bad control panel. The wall outlet has power as I plugged in a drill to verify,

B maresh, If you hold the temp button for 3 seconds it should change to Fahrenheit and if it continues to do the same thing then the control would need to be replaced.

I am fixing (or trying to) a Frigidare upright freezer for a friend on limited income so I need help diagnosing a problem. The compressor was running almost all of the time for a few weeks prior to this problem, although it was maintaining proper temperature. One day I noticed that the display temperature was reading 14 degrees and rising.I raised the temp. setting to 20 degrees and the the system shut off. Then I set it back to 5 degrees and it started cooling. The temperature began to go back down, and wehen it go to about 5 degrees the display flashed OF, then FF, and it no longer tried to cool. I have tested the interior fan and it works. I will replace the control board if it is needed, but wold like to be sure that this $100 plus part will fix it for her before spending her money needlessly.

All of a sudden my freezer started with the HI Temp and Door Ajar warning, Temperarture was going up. I read on the internet where this could possible be a defective switch. I bought a switch, but wrong one, for manual model,. I went ahead and replaced the switch with the round one. I closed the circuit on the switch by taping the switch closed. Unit worked great for a couple of days. My wife went to clean the front door and the gasket, while freezer was closed, and immediately the HI Temp and Door Ajar light came on and temperature started rising. Any suggestions.

1 Answer

James, The most likely cause for the door alarm and hi temp alarm to go off would be a faulty control board. The control board part number is 297235200.

Hello Shawn, You should check the door switch for being properly activated when the door is closed. You should also make sure the switch is operational. As long as you have let the unit get back down to temperature and all tests good, the new board would be at fault.

Hello Ron. To remove the Precision Set control assembly: 1. Disconnect power to freezer. 2. Using a small flat bladed screwdriver or equivalent tool carefully pry under the bezel until the retaining latches release from the door assembly. Pull control assembly straight out to avoid damaging the electrical connection wire prongs. To install the Precision Set Control Assembly : 1. Push control in gently with the palm of your hand. You may need to slightly adjust the bezel position up or down to align connector pins. 2. Gently push control flush to the door with palm of hand.

I have a couple problems and think they might be related to what is broken. I think it's the control board. 1) My upright freezer seems run almost all the time, only shuts down a couple of times a day. I have place two thermometers inside to monitor temp because I think there is an issue with my control board. First I set the temp to 8 degrees, the freezer keeps a temp of 0 degrees most of the time, but some times it can go as high as 10 degrees, what gives? Setting the temp to 0 degrees and I get -5. 2) Sometimes when I open the freezer door, the compressor stops running immediately. To me it's seems the the action of opening the door shook something that was stuck on the control board that is mounted to the door and finally allowed the compressor to shut off, because the inside temp is well below the 8 degrees temp I set. Is something wrong or is this normal?? 3) Also the temp display on the front only seems to display the set temperature and not the temperature inside the freezer, but I remember when I first plugged it in, it use to give the inside temp. Is that right?? I want to know the inside temp to be displayed, not the set temp.

John, Based on the information provided it sounds like the issue would be a faulty control board 297235200. Keep in mind though that the temperature fluctuation is +/- 5 degrees.
