For Frigidaire Freezer Electronic Touch Pad Control Panel (Part Number: OEM18999918)

Jeff for Model Number LFFH217F7HWA

The door was left open all night and since then it won't go below 21 deg. It was working fine till then. It was at 0 deg. I unplugged the freezer and plugged it back in but it's still not working. The top line on the evaporator freezes, the one where the defrost thermostat is. I checked the heater element and it was 24 ohms. I replaced the defrost thermostat but to no avail. I thought possibly of a leak since only part of the evaporator freezes but it gets to the lower 20's relatively fast. Also twice now it read 0 deg on the display but when I opened the door it went back to 31 deg real quick and a hi temp light came on. I did read in an earlier post of someone that had a similar problem and the tech said it was possibly the controller board. I am just trying to make absolute sure so I know which direction to go. I have also thought about the thermistor. Could this be the problem? I appreciate any assistance and thank you for your time. Jeff

Jeff, Based on the description of the issue that is occurring. It sounds as though you may have a restricted sealed system. The evaporator coils should have a uniformed frost pattern from top to bottom and a even frost pattern. A unit that only the top coils are frosting up would be an indication that there is a leak or a restriction.

Tim, It's not a difficult repair, but you do have to be careful not to scratch or damage the door panel. Here's some help : Precision Set Control Assembly Removal The Precision Set control assembly is mounted inside the front of the door assembly and is secured in position with retaining latches. To remove the Precision Set control assembly: 1. Disconnect power to freezer. 2. Using a small flat bladed screwdriver or equivalent tool carefully pry under the bezel until the retaining latches release from the door assembly. Pull control assembly straight out to avoid damaging the electrical connection wire prongs. To install the Precision Set Control Assembly : 1. Push control in gently with the palm of your hand. You may need to slightly adjust the bezel position up or down to align connector pins. 2. Gently push control flush to the door with palm of hand. "

Hello Charles. These are very easy to replace. Disconnect the power and unsnap the old one from the unit. Unplug the wires going to it. Plug wires into new board, snap in place, and plug back up.

Charles, With having a faint display, make sure that any protective film has been pulled off and if this has been done then it sounds like the control would need to be replaced.

Fred H for Model Number GLFH21F8HBD

Hi, My name is Fred. I have a Frigidaire Freezer model # GLFH21F8HBD. The MFG Part Number for the control assembly which is mounted in the door is 297366307. I have two freezer thermometers in the freezer and they both read -15 degrees F. The control unit reads +10 degrees F which is a +35 degree F difference, which is incorrect, and is making my freezer run longer and getting colder than I would like. My question is do I need to purchase a new control assembly or is there a temperature sending unit or sensor somewhere in the freezer that controls what the reading is in the control assembly. Thank you for your time. Fred

Fred, This issue would either be the thermistor or a faulty control board. You will want to test the resistance of the thermistor and if the thermistor checks ok then replace the control.

Steve for Model Number Frigidaire GLFH21F8HWH

After a power outage when the power comes back on, the freezer will not start and the control panel will be completely dark. This will continue for as long as the freezer is plugged in. After unplugging the freezer for about one hour and plugging it back in then the freezer will just start and run fine as if nothing happened. It is like a reset but is it normal to have to unplug and wait? I contacted Frigidaire and they said it is normal! Shouldn't the freezer restart after the power comes back on without having to unplug it and wait first? So is the control panel simply defective?

Hello Steve. It sounds like the control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Skangirl for Model Number LFUH21F7LM2

My 18-month-old Frigidaire upright freezer has a "deluxe electronic temperature control" (part 297366309) on the front of it. It's giving crazy readings lately. It will say it's 60 degrees inside the freezer; a minute later it says 9 degrees. An old fashioned thermometer indicates that the temperature is well below zero inside, just as it is programmed to be. There is no frost on the food inside; nothing is dripping. There's no indication the temp. inside is rising at all, aside from the numbers on the digital display. Sometimes it appears to work perfectly for hours at a time; then the temp. reading goes crazy. Eventually rising to a temp. that causes an alarm to sound. Sometimes it seems to come to its senses if I open and close the door. Not coincidentally, the wiring underneath the freezer may have been sloshed with a little water during a recent basement flood. (It didn't flood in that part of the basement but when we swept the flood water into the moat around the floor, it's possible that some water splashed into it. I've checked all the connecters underneath. Everything seems to be solidly attached. There's no visible corrosion or burn marks or anything out of the ordinary. (It looks like new.) We put it back in place and leveled everything per Frigidaire instructions to make it slightly higher in the front to help ensure a good seal on the door. Also tried their rec. to unplug freezer for 10 min. to reset it. I even tried it on a different circuit. None of that seemed to make a difference. Should I replace the electronic temperature control? I think it is a snap-in part, not something that can be repaired. If so, is it a simple task or do I need a pro to install it? Or is it likely to be something else? Thank you very much.
