You should replace the control module if it fails or malfunctions. Causes of a bad control module can include electrical surges, wear and tear over time, or exposure to moisture. Faulty wiring or damaged components within the module can also lead to failure.

Symptoms of a bad control module include:

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Electronic Control (Part Number: OEM18999918)

Kenneth, It's going to take some time for a 21 cu.ft. freezer to cool down to 10 dgrs.F and equalize the temperature. Are you sure you have the control set for Fahrenheit and not Celsius ? The door is closed and sealed and the interior light is going out ? Depending on how long the freezer was inoperative and warm, will determine the time it takes to cool down and equalize the temp. You may need to wait 24 to 48 hours, depending on load size, etc.

Jacob, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty control board on the unit.

Rose Marie, All the power to the freezer components is routed through the 297235200 Electronic Control Assembly(including the interior light). If you're sure you have checked and reset the control for normal operation, then you will need to replace the control. The 8C isn't an error code for this model, check to make sure the control isn't set for a Celcius temp. display

Hello Bob. If the temp is correct, then the unit is fine. If it is running, it is to maintain the temp inside the unit. If it were too cold, then you could have a sensor error. But being the correct temperature, it sounds like the unit is fine. Thank you.

Hc Giles for Model Number Frigidaire FFU14F7HW Freezer

The freezer will begin chirping with the temperature light blinking. The compressor then short cycles with the light. We can un-plug the freezer and within 3 or 4 tries, it will run normally until we open the door or try to make a temp adjustment. After reading this site, I ordered the door controller. It was a brand new part. Following the instructions here, it was no problem to snap it out and reinstall it. However, there is no change in the above problem. Could you assist me?

HC Giles, You will want to check to see if the thermistor on the unit is good and check the fan motor to make sure that it is good.

Hello Shelly, if you are asking how to reset the board you can try a power cycle. You'll disconnect the unit from the power outlet for atleast 1 minute. That should reset the display. Please call us at 877-477-7278 if you have any further questions we can help you with, thanks!

Debra, The most likely cause for this issue will be that the thermistor was bad and possibly caused the board to fail again.
