Jules, based on the information provided previously provided, the most likely failure is the cold control 241537103 sticking in the open position.

Jules for Model Number R134a Frigidaire Upright fridge

Originally, the fridge had power (as indicated by the light) but no motor was running.I tested the capacitor (which failed a continuity check) and I replaced the capacitor bough here and the compressor started to run immediately. About 5 hours later I noticed the motor has stopped running. Remembering a video I saw online I tapped the control temperature housing. The compressor started to run immediately. Is the issue now the control terminals being stuck or is there a bigger issue?

1 Answer

Jules, if the model number of your appliance could be provided in a new question, this will allow for the most accurate information to be presented.

Maryanne for Model Number 25322042410

Kenmore Upright freezer model# 25322042410 defrost too often. I already replaced the defrost timer (Part# AP69799886) but I still get the same behavior. I did check the control-temperature and it was loose so I made sure that it is actually inserted completely then put it back together and the freezer is running again for a few hours (i.e. ~ 8PM-~6AM) and then its stopped running and it is defrosting. Am I missing something? What is the defrost timer supposed to be set to? Thank you for your help.

1 Answer

Hello Maryanne, your freezer uses a 12 hour defrost timer, meaning every 12 hours of "accumulated" compressor run time it goes into a 20-30 minute defrost cycle. This is considered normal operation. The compressor should cycle off (and the defrost timer stops also) once the correct internal temperature is reached. If the compressor runs non stop except for defrost cycles there is a cooling problem.

Dennis, Based on the information provided the compressor is running and not cooling sounds as if you have a sealed system issue that will require an EPA certified technician to do these repairs. ( the thermostats are working if it is turning the compressor on)

Trying to undo the damage that a bad repair person did. There are two wires that plug into the thermostat control unit (Part 5304513033). My cables were removed by the repair guy and soldered together. Yes, I know...... One cable is black the other is blue. I need to figure out which cable goes to which terminal on the back of the temp control unit. I have a brand new unit ordered and in hand. OR does the terminal order not matter, as long as each terminal has a cable plugged in? Thanks, Many

1 Answer

Many, it would not necessarily make a difference in which terminal the wires are set on this particular temperature control as long as one wire is placed on each terminal.

Robert for Model Number CF22

Have a Woods deep freeze chest freezer. The thermostat is doing some weird things; The compressor runs constantly. After 2 full days of running, with the knob set at '4' (midway) it's still running, and the temp is 20 below zero. So my 'mechanicals' is ok. I have to turn the knob clear to '1' before it shuts off. After letting the compressor equalize the pressure (3-4 minutes) I have to turn the knob clear up to '7' before it clicks to run the compressor. This is almost half a sweep of the dial between 'on or off'. Most appliances I've had were only 1 number differentiation between on or off. The part number on the thermostat is WXF31C-923-026 Can you provide a similar replacement? This has the terminals to run a high temp warning buzzer. Thanks!

1 Answer

Robert, Unfortunately, we do not have any information or parts that we would advise of on this unit.

Hello Bob, the manufacturer has no other thermostats for this model freezer other than the original. Also, the thermostat is set to keep the freezer in a close range around 0 deg which is the ideal freezer temperature for frozen food storage.

Jerome for Model Number FFU1464DW2

I unplugged my freezer,in order to, replace my drain hose, letting it remain unplugged until i received the part,i replaced the hose, plugged it in the outlet and a day later the exterior top and sides of the freezer was warm and rather hot to the touch... is this normal?I also removed the door panel because water was leaking from the bottom door gasket.their were four blocks of ice behind the panel adhered to a strip of insulation surrounding the panel.I removed the ice and the insulation i took it out and let dry.Replaced insulation and panel and new door gasket. what did I do wrong? HELP

1 Answer

Jerome, It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong "what did I do wrong? HELP" You do want to check and make sure the freezer is properly leveled and sitting on all four of the leveling feet. Check that the new door gasket is sealing to the front frame of the freezer, all the way around the opening, especially the bottom of the door. Make sure the interior light goes out when the door is closed. Your freezer has a static condenser, so make sure to allow space around the unit for good air circulation, especially the back. A warm cabinet across the top and down the sides of the cabinet opening is normal, this would be the "Yoder Lood" dissipating the heat from the refrigerant and warming the front flange area of the cabinet to reduce the moisture and condensation that may acumulate around the opening and door seal.
