Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Oven Burner Ignitor (Part Number: OEM18692154)

1 Answer

Don, You may want to try sliding a flat blade screwdriver between the igniter bracket and the burner mounting bracket, then back the screws out. If that doesn't work you may need to drill or cut the screws. Also, you may want to replace the mounting screws with a couple of WB1X1293 Igniter Mounting Screw(s), these screws will be "easier" to install and remove in the future.

Robert, the white wire side is going to be neutral and the side that does not have the white wire attached to the heat insulated wire is the hot side. Neither of these wires will go to ground.

Robert, there is neither a positive or negative wire on the igniter, it can be wired either way. Thanks for the question.

Hello Ronald, You can go to a hardware store and purchase some spade connectors and crimp them on the wires so the ignitor can be connected or you can purchase some small ceramic wire nuts to connect the wires with.

Pat, First, I would test the oven temp sensor. At room temp, it should read about 1100 ohms of resistance. It is easiest to test this from the rear of the unit.

Hello Bob. Since the amperage is within range, you will need to order and replace the gas safety valve on the unit. It is bad.

I have replaced the igniter, part # 316489402, on my Frigidaire gas oven. I thought for sure that was the problem given descriptions I've read online. The stove top works perfectly fine. All 5 burners work. However, after replacing the igniter, the oven continues to do the same thing: I turn the oven on, set the temp, hear a click...but nothing else. Without ripping things apart again, any thoughts to what the problem could be, and how to test? Thank you!

Bill, "Without ripping things apart again" open or remove the broiler drawer, program the oven for a bake cycle and start, in about 20 to 30 seconds you should see an orange glow in the broiler area. If not, you'll need to "rip things apart" then you'll need to recheck the wiring, then check for 120 VAC to the igniter from the EOC/Clock. Power to the igniter is supplied by a relay on the EOC, then from th igniter to the safety valve. Make sure you haven't lost the neutral side of the circuit.

Hello John, If the ignitor 316489403 is glowing orange or red, it should be replaced. If it is glowing yellow to white hot, the gas valve 316404901 would be the more likely cause.
