Blaine, You will want to run the unit with the front panel off and check to make sure that the motor, belt and pulley at the bottom of the shaft is turning when in the spin. If it is but the unit will not spin and stay spinning then it sounds like it could be a brake issue with the gearcase.

James, With the unit not going into drain and spin, you will want to access the tech sheet in the control panel and put the unit into diagnostics and see if there is a error code stored. This issue sounds like it could be a faulty control board but the error code will direct you to the issue.

Bruce, With the unit not agitating this would most likely be a transmission that has failed. But you will also want to check to make sure that the motor is getting power when put into the agitation. If it is and the motor is spinning then the transmission is at fault. If the motor is not turning would be a timer issue.

Wash Machine: GE (FRigidaire made) laundry center. Current Issue: Motor not spinning on both directions. spin cycle works. agitating cycle doesn't work even with belt unhooked. The lid-lock switch is burned and while the switch part is intact, the locking lever is burned and doesn't work. Question: can the burned lid lock cause the motor to not function on agitator cycle but still work on spin cycle? Past issue: the tub seal was initially broken and the bearing and transmission got rusted and locked. So, we changed both transmission and tub seal kit. motor was getting wet too. Thank you very much!!

Javier, The lid lock being bad would cause both agitation and spin to not work. This issue sounds more like a issue with the motor.

The machine basically after any drain spin cycle, the tub just keeps spinning till it runs out of momentum. So for example after the wash spin cycle when it starts pouring water in for the rinse cycle it use to stop the tub, allowing me to open the lid and pour the fabric softener. But now the tub just keeps spinning while it’s filling for the rinse cycle which stops me from opening the lid until it completely stops spinning and unlocks the lid, which by that time it’s usually filled with its rinse water. I assume there is some sort of brake to stop it from spinning but I can’t find it anywhere on your website or online. Is there a brake pad? Or is there some other part I need to replace that will stop it from spinning between cycles?

Hello Lauren. You will need to check and see if the drain pump is good on the unit. As for the timer issue, you will need to replace the timer 134049600. If the pump is good, then you will need to replace the transmission 134737100 in the unit if the belt is good.

Joe, If the pump gets power when you manually tap on the door lock then the timer would not be the issue. This issue would be caused by either loose wiring at the door lock or the door lock is faulty.
