The Drive Motor is an OEM part for Frigidaire washing machines. This motor powers the drum's rotation during both the wash and spin cycles. It ensures that the drum agitates and spins correctly, allowing for effective cleaning and rinsing of laundry.

Over time, the drive motor can fail due to regular wear and tear, electrical issues, or overloading the washing machine.

Symptoms of a bad drive motor include:

  • The drum not spinning or agitating
  • Unusual noises or humming sounds during operation
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle
  • Burning smells coming from the motor area

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

For Frigidaire Drive Motor (Part Number: OEM13498620)

Kostas for Model Number FAFW3511KW

My washer does not spin or agitate. It started with the clothes not being completely dry and a few days later it just stopped spinning. I ran the test according to the tech sheet and got an E5E error code. I replaced the control board and it did not fix the issue. When I run a spin cycle only, it fills with water, and a few minutes later it drains most of it. I can hear a click when supposedly the motor is supposed to kick in, but nothing happens. It doesn't spin at all. It also stopped 1 minute before the full cycle was over. Will replacing the motor fix the issue? I understand that the motor rarely goes out, but we had a couple of power outages in the summer.

Kostas, The E5E error is an indication of a communication problem. You will want to check the wiring between the main board and the speed control board. If there is a wiring issue then correct the wiring. If the wiring looks good and you have already replaced the main board then replace the speed control board. If the speed control has been replaced then replace the main control board.

Hello Mario, The is more likely the motor speed control 134743500. The motor can be bad but the speed control is the more common part to fail on this design.

Speedy, The E59 error code indicates that there is no tacho signal for 3 seconds. You will want to do the following: 1. Remove the belt from the motor and spin the motor pulley. Does the motor spin free? No, replace the motor. Yes, go to step (3). 2. Spin the tub pulley. Does the tub spin free? No, check the tub bearings. Yes, go to step (3). 3. Disconnect the plug from the drive motor and measure the resistance between pins 4 and 5 in the motor. If the meter reads other than between 105 and 130 ohms, replace the motor. If the reading is between 105 and 130 ohms, go to step (4). 4. Disconnect the plug from the motor and measure the resistance of the windings (pin 1 to 2, pin 1 to 3, pin 2 to 3). All readings should be between 4 and 6 ohms. If readings are correct, replace the Speed Control Board. If readings are incorrect, replace the motor.

Hello Terry, Either the motor has failed or the speed control has failed. If the speed control got wet then this would be the first choice. If you access tech sheet it will have tests to run to check the motor and speed control.

Hello SDBob, You will want to check the shaft of the inner basket to make sure that is not squared off, check pulley to make sure it is good. If these check ok it would more than likely be the speed control board.

Hello Pedro, You would want to check your door lock assembly. When the unit is stopping at 7 minutes it is an indication that unit cannot go into a spin which most likely cause is the control not showing the latch being locked. Check wiring and connections at the lock latch 131763256.

Carlos, The Tacho Generator assembly is actually part of the motor, if it has failed, you'd need to replace the motor as an assembly 137043000 The E52 error indicates a Bad signal from tacho generator. but is most likely an issue with the wiring between the motor and motor control board 134743500 or fault in the control. Here's how to distinguish which : Disconnect the plug from the drive motor and measure the resistance across pins 4 & 5 on the motor. If the reading is between 105 & 130 Ohms, replace the speed control board. If the reading is not between 105 & 130 ohms, repalce the motor. Thanks
