Brad, with the power supply cord unplugged, there will be screws securing the front panel located just behind the filter. Once these screws are removed, the front panel would pull forward, exposing the display control and the main control.

JKMHB, You will want to check to see if there is power from the control board to the compressor. If there is not then the board is faulty and would need service. If there is power then the capacitor would likely be the issue.

Avif, With the compressor running with the unit off then this would be a stuck relay on the main control board which will need to be replaced.

Mark A. for Model Number LRA187MT2

Our Frigidaire A/C unit has stopped cooling. After the compressor stopped working for a short while it would work if you turned the thermostat way down. Now, the compressor never kicks in, though the fan runs fine. We took it apart and checked the run capacitor and it checked out fine at 38.8 µF. So we unhooked the ambient temperature sensor and turned the unit on. We got the "AS" error message but the compressor turned on (good think too -- it's hot out!). For now we are running it without the ambient temp sensor (manually turning it on and off), but it would be great if the thermostat worked! We tested the sensor we removed with a multimeter and the resistance does go up when the temp goes down. Do you think it is the temperature señor, or could it be the board?

Hello Mark. It sounds like the board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.
