The Oven Probe is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire electric ranges. As an essential safety device, it monitors internal temperatures accurately during baking and roasting cycles.  This probe measures approximately 8 inches.

Causes of a bad oven probe can include normal wear from continual high heat usage. Exposure to splatters or spills may damage fragile connection wires or compromise sensor accuracy over many years.

Symptoms of a bad oven probe are:

  • Inability to selectcooking modes like bake, roast or broil requiring temperature control
  • Faulty or inconsistent temperature readings during heating
  • Error messages regarding probe malfunctions
  • Premature heating element burnouts without regulating feedback

This part is also compatible with Electrolux and select Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Oven Probe (Part Number: OEM11890971)

Chris, You will want to access the control board and test from L2 to bake and see if there is 240 vac with the unit set to bake. If there is not 240 vac then the issue is the control board. If there is 240 vac then test the element for 240 vac. If not there then check the wiring from the control to the element.

Hello AJ. Due to being a Kenmore, we can not pull the tech sheet. However, this is built by Frigidaire and on most of these, the F4 error code is a bad oven sensor 316490000. Thanks.

Jeff M. for Model Number Electrolux IQ Touch with ES 630A Elec. Oven Control

I replaced the RTD #316490000 and this was not the cure, however, placing the replaced upper oven RTD in the position of the lower oven RTD, after several tests of the oven.... no failures. (F10) However, the 316490000 has about a 2 inch chord (meaning I had to leave the RTD dangling out the back of the oven without touching anything) whereas the lower oven's RTD has a chortd about 5 to 6 inches long. I can't find the Part # for the lower oven RTD........ any suggestions? This solution seems to make sense as while I was out of town, my house/dog watcher used the lower oven by mistake and told me that some cardboard caught fire in the lower oven.........

Hello Jeff, This was most likely due to a poor electrical connection in the harness which was corrected by removing and re-installing the parts.

Max, The F10 error is a runaway temp. Check the Oven sensor for resistance. The resistance value should be 1090 ohms at room temp. If this checks ok then you will need to replace the control board.

Hello Ray. Shorted Probe or connection. 1. (F30 or F31) Check resistance at room temperature & compare to RTD Sensor resistance chart. If resistance does not match the RTD chart replace RTD Sensor Probe. Check Sensor wiring harness between EOC & Sensor Probe connector. 2. (F30 or F31) Check resistance at room temperature, if less than 500 ohms, replace RTD Sensor Probe. Check for shorted Sensor Probe harness between EOC & Probe connector. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Bill, You will want to check down inside the pump to make sure that there is nothing inside that would cause the squealing noise. This is the most likely cause but if it is clear then the only way to isolate is to run the dishwasher and when it squeals disconnect the motor harness to see if it is in the drain pump or if it is the motor of the unit.
