The Oven Probe is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire electric ranges. As an essential safety device, it monitors internal temperatures accurately during baking and roasting cycles.  This probe measures approximately 8 inches.

Causes of a bad oven probe can include normal wear from continual high heat usage. Exposure to splatters or spills may damage fragile connection wires or compromise sensor accuracy over many years.

Symptoms of a bad oven probe are:

  • Inability to selectcooking modes like bake, roast or broil requiring temperature control
  • Faulty or inconsistent temperature readings during heating
  • Error messages regarding probe malfunctions
  • Premature heating element burnouts without regulating feedback

This part is also compatible with Electrolux and select Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Oven Probe (Part Number: OEM11890971)

Mr Twister for Model Number Frigidaire FFEH3054US

My oven temp is runaway. Set to 350, it heats to 430, then starts to slowly drop. I opened the door for a few moments, closed it, and the temp was 342. It climbed to 370, then slowly dropped to 351, then heated back to 390, and I shut it off. I asked the question here earlier, and tested the temperature probe resistance based on the input. It was dead on 1080 ohms. Based on that, I purchased a control panel, and still have the same problem. The wiring diagram only shows the probe and the control panel. What else can be going on? Thank you for your help.

Mr. Twister, the temperature probe may need to be tested when it is heated up. Using a heat gun or hair dryer to heat it up to 250°F, the resistance should measure 1453O, and at 350°F it should measure 1654O (temperatures verified with a thermometer). Based on the information provided, it sounds like the temperature probe is not registering the proper resistance at higher temperatures. However, a range will increase and decrease in temperatures to some degree as it levels out the average temperature to match the temperature selected.

Ruth, With the oven still overheating then this would be a issue with the control board of the unit. The part number needed would be 5304509493.

Ruth, The video would be similar to a electric range and would simply need to pull the range out and would need to remove the back panel to get to the sensor to remove it.

Lanny, This issue would be caused by a faulty oven safety valve in which the solenoids inside the valve are weak and not keeping the valve open.

Ross, You will want to check the oven sensor for 1090 ohms at room temp of 77 degrees and for every 1 degree increase add 2 ohms. If this checks ok then the control board will be faulty but if it checks bad replace the sensor.

Karen, You're pretty close on target, The oven temperature probe 316490000 under certain conditions can loose it's calibration and allow the control and oven temperatures to increase and over cook. You'd want to start with a new probe, then check and recalibrate the control if needed.

Hello John. F10 is for run away temp. 1. If fault code is present with cold oven test oven temperature sensor probe circuit resistance. Use RTD scale found in the tech sheet. 1. If oven is severely overheating/heating when no cook cycle is programmed test oven temperature sensor probe circuit resistance. 2. Replace probe or repair wiring connections if defective. 3. If temperature sensor probe circuit is good but fault code remains when oven is cold replace the EOC. 1. If oven is severely overheating/heating when no cook cycle is programmed test oven temperature sensor probe circuit resistance using the RED scale found in the service tech sheet. Also verify that the temperature sensor probe in properly installed in the oven cavity. 2. Disconnect power from the range, wait 30 seconds and reapply power. If oven continues to heat when the power is reapplied, replace the EOC. NOTE: Severe overheating may require the entire oven to be replaced should damage be extensive.
