The Regulator is an OEM part for Frigidaire ranges and cooktops. It's designed to maintain a safe and consistent gas flow to the burners, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency during cooking. This regulator adjusts the pressure of the gas coming from your home's supply line to match the requirements of the appliance, allowing for precise temperature control and reliable operation.

Causes of a bad regulator can include general wear and tear over time, exposure to high temperatures or cleaning chemicals that degrade its components, or a malfunction within the regulator itself, such as a stuck valve or broken diaphragm.

Symptoms of a bad Regulator include:

  • Inconsistent flame size or color
  • Burners not lighting
  • A noticeable gas smell when the cooktop or range is on
  • Weak or uneven heating performance

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Tom, unfortunately, the manufacturer is not showing a part listing for the model number provided.

Ronald, We will need to have the model number for the range to be able to assist properly. If you converted the unit to LP then the oven orifices need to be tightened 1 1/2 to 2 turns down and open the air shutters all the way. For the regulator, you would remove the brass cap and flip it over and reinstall it.

Stephen for Model Number Electrolux model # E30GF74HPS1 Ser#NF92516750

This Electrolux gas range was purchased in 2008. It had a faulty ignitor and that was replaced in 2009 under warranty. The oven is now sputtering when it is turned on. It makes a "put-put-put-put-put" kind of noise when turned on in BAKE mode. It will light but it has to go through the "put-put-put" cycle first. I got down and listened to it last time we had it lit and the noise was a very consistent and fast paced putting noise for at least several minutes. You can distinctly hear the initial "put-put-put-put-put" when it's lighting but I have to get down on the floor the hear the more rapid putting noise, once the oven is lit and heating. At any rate, it does not seem normal. My wife believes that the oven made this same noise when it had a faulty oven ignitor. I'm not so sure. I can see an orange glow when the oven is starting if I get down on the floor and look up. This is when the oven is starting. Anyway, wondering if you could provide some advice. Should I replace the ignitor or is it more likely to be the safety gas valve?

1 Answer

Stephen, the safety valve 5303210798 can be tested for 3.2 to 3.6 VAC going to the safety valve from the ignitor. Once the ignitor reaches 1800°F surface temp, the ignitor should be allowing the voltage to reach the safety valve. If there is not a constant 3.2 to 3.6 VAC within 60 seconds, then the ignitor 5303935066 has weakened and this would certainly cause issues.

Gerry, with the information you supplied, and no model number, the first check would be the oven burner igniter/glow bar [AP215041]. The igniter needs to draw 3.2 to 3.6 amps, or produce 3.2 to 3.6 VAC at the safety valve terminals in order to "open" the valve and release the fuel for ignition and heat. If the fuel isn't ignited the heat will not go past the 200 dgrs.F. setting in the display. Thanks.

Hello James, The manufacturer of the regulator 316091711 may have changed since the manufacture of your unit but they do the same job. The one shown has a gas stop that is removed from the bottom of the "plug" and is flipped over and snapped back onto the plug before it is reinstalled onto the regulator. The other style has a plug that is flipped over without any additional parts. The gas stop simply allows more natural gas or less LP gas to pass through for proper pressure regulation on the two types of gas for a proper gas flame height.

Joe, To change this unit to natural you will need the orifices for the front left 316527500, left rear 316527513, center 316237902, right front 316527509, and right rear 316527504. For the oven you would need to loosen the orifices 1 1/2 to 2 turns and close the air shutter to where they are 3/4 way open. On the regulator you will need to flip the cap from LP to Natural.

Jkay, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty pressure regulator with all of the burners doing the same thing.
