The Replacement Icemaker is an OEM part for Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators. It serves the critical function of automatically producing batches of ice cubes on demand. Note: The Icemaker Kit comes with an adaptor harness that may be needed for some applications. The harness converts a 4 pin connector to a 3 pin connector.

Causes of a malfunctioning icemaker can vary. They may stem from failed control sensors affecting conductivity and freeze times, scaled or corroded water lines, or an ice basket mold with broken fins and louvers.
Symptoms of a bad icemaker include:

  • Reduced or inconsistent ice production
  • Ice cubes getting jammed or fused together
  • Water leaks or spray inside the freezer
  • Strange sounds or mechanisms not working

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM9481800)

Hello Brett. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Ellie for Model Number FRS3R4EQ2

We bought our home, with the fridge, two years ago. Ice maker has been termperamental, not working longer than it has worked. After several months of NOT working, ice maker suddenly resumed working once after the electrical power had been off for about 24 hrs. due to a storm. It worked, IIRC, for a month or two. There had also been an "extra" filter on the water line (in addition to the filter inside the fridge); we removed the external one and that helped with water flow. We had local appliance service come out, as I was suspecting low water pressure to be the problem, although shop thought unlikely. Repair guy emptied freezer, check the lines in back, then decided it WAS pressure problem; he made a larger hole on main water line, put on a new saddle valve, and VOILA; it worked. For a while. It has not worked for several months so I decided to have another go at it....emptied freezer, let it warm up for a couple of hours. Nothing. Removed filter cartridge from filter in the fridge. Water flow in door is decent. Just wrestled out the ice maker.....it has a little bit of ice in bottom of the rear-most cube molds. Have it thawing out again; on verge of buying new ice maker, but it seems to work when it is in the mood....Help!

Ellie, Recheck and flush the water supply line for a minute or two. Replace the water inlet valve 242252702 and check the ice maker wire harness connection at the back wall of the freezer. Having operated so long on low water pressure, there may be debris in the valve and weak or faulty solenoids, still causing little or no water to the ice maker.

Hello Tom. If the icemaker is overfilling, replace the water valve. However, if the icemaker is leaking, just replace the icemaker.

Tony, In most cases the cause for the icemaker not to work would be that moisture got into the icemaker motor and seized it up. One thing that you can try is to take the cover off the icemaker and the small gear that is on the icemaker head has a slot in it. Turn this gear counter clockwise and it should go into a cycle. Allow the icemaker to run and see if the icemaker goes through a full rotation and fills with water. If not then the icemaker would be the issue.
