The Starter is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This component is crucial for initiating the compressor, which is responsible for cooling the refrigerator. The starter works by providing the necessary electrical power to get the compressor running, ensuring that the refrigerator maintains the correct temperature.

Causes of a bad starter can include electrical malfunctions, wear and tear over time, or damage from power surges. A faulty starter can prevent the compressor from starting, leading to cooling issues.

Symptoms of a bad Starter include:

  • The refrigerator not cooling properly
  • The compressor not running or frequently cycling on and off
  • Unusual clicking or buzzing noises from the compressor area
  • The refrigerator being warmer than usual or food spoiling quickly

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

This is a followup to a question I asked yesterday. I installed the part but am still having the problem. The compressor has readings of 13, 11, and 3 ohms. I'm wondering if the overload might be bad? The overload gives a reading of 1 ohm. It uses freon-12 so I don't think I'd want to try to replace the compressor if it's bad. (This was the question I asked yesterday: How do you wire this part. there's a black wire coming from the overload that I assume goes on to the new relay. I'm not sure which 2 pins on the compressor that the new relay goes onto or where the white wire attaches. Ben for Model Number FRT-14TAL-0 ANSWER Hello Ben. The compressor should have 3 post. The overload will go on the single post and the relay goes onto the double post. Back wire to the overload and white wire to number 2 of the relay. Thanks. Gloria, If you are getting a frost build up on the back wall and the unit shuts off like it is defrosting but never comes back on then the issue may be caused by a defrost timer that is sticking in the defrost cycle.

Hello Alberto. Check and make sure the condenser coils are clean and the condenser fan motor is running. If so, then it sounds like an HVAC issue and you will need a certified tech to repair the unit.

Hello Alex. No, it sounds like the overload is testing good, but the relay is bad. I usually replace both parts as they work together.

Hello JDVN. If there is no defrost issue, and everything is working good on the unit, it sounds like the thermostat 5303305486 may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit. It reads the temp inside the unit and runs the compressor according to the temp inside the unit.
