A bad compressor start kit can occur due to electrical issues, damage, or wear over time. If the start kit fails, it can lead to problems such as the compressor not starting, warm temperatures inside the refrigerator, or inconsistent cooling performance.

Symptoms of a bad compressor start kit include:

  • Compressor not starting or struggling to start.
  • Warm temperatures inside the refrigerator.
  • Inconsistent cooling or inadequate cooling.
  • Unusual noises coming from the compressor.

If you're experiencing any of these issues, it's time to replace the compressor start kit with this genuine part. Restore the proper functioning and cooling performance of your refrigerator with a new compressor start kit. This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Vincent, Unfortunately we are unable to supply the PSI on the refrigerant lines but based on the information if the compressor is running and shuts off then trys to come right back on then this will most likely be either the start device on the side of the compressor or a faulty compressor.

Hello John, The problem you described is either caused by a bad start relay on the compressor, a restriction in the sealed system, or a bad compressor. The start relay is where you should begin. If you remove it from the compressor and shake it, it should not rattle. If it does, the relay will need to be replaced.

Hello Mike. We do not have the specs on the parts from the manufacturer. You would need to contact them for that information. All we can do is recommend the manufacturer replacement part for your model number which is part number 5304491941. You can try the other kit and see if it works. If so, you should be fine using it. Thank you.

Donkeyii for Model Number Kenmore Window Unit #25378186890

I own a Kenmore Window A/C unit and when I have it on Energy Saver Mode you hear the compressor kick on but the blower does not. The unit will run for two mins then turn off then recycle two to three mins. Later, when I put the unit on Cool The unit runs great with the fan continues to run as normal and should and the Compressor cycles as normal. What would cause the fan not to run in the Energy Saver Mode? Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Marvin L. for Model Number FRS23R4AB6

Installed start relay kit 5304491941 after refrigerator stopped cooling and ice from ice maker melted with water running on floor. Before this, unit was making a buzzing sound every so often. Thanks to this blog, I was able to install relay kit and hook up correct wires and everything was working fine for about a week. Now it has started buzzing again intermittently with the compressor still starting after a few tries. Could this be a faulty starter since the compressor still comes on and refrigerator still cools and how can I test and troubleshoot this problem before trying to replace the start relay again?

1 Answer

Hello Marvin, I'm sorry but if the compressor is not starting immediately and has failed again, the compressor has an internal problem which will require the compressor 5304511983 replacement. It will require a Freon certified technician to complete the sealed system repair.
