The Compressor Start Kit is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It is responsible for providing a reliable start-up for the compressor. It includes the necessary components to assist in initiating the compressor's motor, allowing it to run efficiently.

A bad compressor start kit can occur due to electrical issues, damage, or wear over time. If the start kit fails, it can lead to problems such as the compressor not starting, warm temperatures inside the refrigerator, or inconsistent cooling performance.

Symptoms of a bad compressor start kit include:

  • Compressor not starting or struggling to start.
  • Warm temperatures inside the refrigerator.
  • Inconsistent cooling or inadequate cooling.
  • Unusual noises coming from the compressor.

If you're experiencing any of these issues, it's time to replace the compressor start kit with this genuine part. Restore the proper functioning and cooling performance of your refrigerator with a new compressor start kit. This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Compressor Start Kit (Part Number: OEM17209152)

Gary

The Compressor Starter on my refrigerator fried. The number on it is 218721113. This part isn't made any longer and I'm not ready to spend $60 on eBay for a used one. My search for information about a substitute has been fruitless. I found one eBay with the number 218721119. The picture looks the same. I found a list of models the 218721113 is used on and a list of models the 218721119 is used on but when I cross referenced them, nothing matched. Can you suggest a replacement for the 218721113? Would it be dangerous to try the 218721119 if it fits? Thanks in advance

1 Answer

Hello Gary. Sorry, the part needed 218721113 has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. If the other fits and runs the unit properly, then it should be fine.

Clay S for Model Number Frigidaire Refrigerator Model FRS26F4CW1

My question is about a Frigidaire Model FRS26F4CW1. I can hear the evaporator fan try to start when the compressor is not running. This repeats several times before it finally starts and continues to running. I have taken the cover off the evaporator and checked the fan, it appeared to be OK. It turns smoothly, freely and shows no visible damage. The way the evaporator fan swings in the rubber isolation mount makes me wonder if that has damaged the wiring or the funky connector plug at the fan and caused an intermittent connection problem. What do you think?

1 Answer

Clay, The evaporator fan most likely is not what is trying to turn on when the unit compressor starts if you are hearing a clicking noise. This would sound more likely that the compressor start relay that is making the clicking noise and you will want to check to make sure that the condenser fan is running and check to make sure that the compressor is not what is clicking.

Just received the starter kit: AP5736381 (5304491941) and the instructions state to connect the red and blue wires to the red and blue wires coming from the molex connector. Only problem is that both of the wires coming from the molex connector are white. Looking at the black and white photo in the instructions the darkest wire is to the outside of the device and the lighter wire is closest to the capacitor. Am I correct to assume that the darkest wire at the edge of the device (in the photo) would be where the red wire would be spliced and the lightest color wire closest to the capacitor is where the blue wire would be spliced? As there are no markings on the device stating which is the line and which is the neutral post. Nor are there any markings on the white wires. The photo shows this as (starting with the left edge) CAPACITOR LIGHT WIRE DARK WIRE (right edge)

1 Answer

David, The blue wire is the neutral on the unit and will go on the pin that is closest to the long shaft in the middle of the relay. The red wire will connect to the one on the outside pin.

Michael, With replacing the starter and the compressor is still clicking, this would indicate a locked rotor on the compressor in which it would need to be replaced. You would want a service technician to replace the compressor if you choose to do so. The part number for the compressor on your unit is 5304511983.

Garry, With the relay still clicking after you installed a new one then the issue will be caused by a faulty compressor. This would be known as a locked rotor and the compressor would need to be replaced.

Donko for Model Number frs26r4a

Hi, There My fridge make loud noise like transformer once in a while. Can make it after an hour or after 10 min and last from a second to 3-4 seconds. It sound the same every time, but is different length and is not in the same intervals. It is not when the fridge start, but when it is working. It is cooling OK no problems but the noise is bothering me. The noise comes from compressor. Is it the starter kit or compressor. How can I be sure. Thank you!

1 Answer

Hello Donko. You need to check and see if it is the water valve energizing when the icemaker cycles.

Charlie for Model Number PLHS269ZCB2

received starter device #5304491941 2 white wires and no markings to indicate load or neutral posts on harness old part has red wire (load) and blue wire (neutral) Do I connect the blue wire to the post closest to the middle of the new starter as shown in the instructions, color pic step 5? Two answers to this question seem to contradict...answer to "Tina" states blue connects to post closest to middle....however, that post seems to pass directly through to the overload....which contradicts the answer to K.a. ...K.a. states he attached blue to the post closest to the middle of the starter as shown in pic and as stated in answer to Tina this resulted in his starter burning....Please clarify which post to attach red (load) and Blue (neutral) ...on new starter is red the top post closest to the edge of starter and blue the bottom post that's toward the middle of starter...or visa versa...

1 Answer

Hello Charlie, The red wire should connect to the "L" terminal on this start device. This will be the connection closest to the edge of the device. The blue wire will connect to the "N" terminal which is the other terminal. This is accomplished by splicing the wires to the correct, (corresponding) terminals.

Hello Keith, The condenser is not rated with a horsepower. If your model number is actually, you actually need to order 5304491941.

Tina, Plug the white wires up to the started. With it hooked up and the terminals at the bottom when looking at it, the bottom wire will be your L1 which you will splice the red wire to it. The other will be the neutral and takes the light blue wire.
