The Compressor Start Kit is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It is responsible for providing a reliable start-up for the compressor. It includes the necessary components to assist in initiating the compressor's motor, allowing it to run efficiently.

A bad compressor start kit can occur due to electrical issues, damage, or wear over time. If the start kit fails, it can lead to problems such as the compressor not starting, warm temperatures inside the refrigerator, or inconsistent cooling performance.

Symptoms of a bad compressor start kit include:

  • Compressor not starting or struggling to start.
  • Warm temperatures inside the refrigerator.
  • Inconsistent cooling or inadequate cooling.
  • Unusual noises coming from the compressor.

If you're experiencing any of these issues, it's time to replace the compressor start kit with this genuine part. Restore the proper functioning and cooling performance of your refrigerator with a new compressor start kit. This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Compressor Start Kit (Part Number: OEM17209152)

Hello Steve, This can point to either the start relay or the compressor because a bad compressor will shoot a new relay. The best way to figure which component is at fault is by replacing the start relay. If the compressor is at fault, the new relay will either never start the compressor, or it will only last a day or so. If it is the relay at fault, the problem is solved. If it isn't, considering the cost of a sealed system repair by a certified technician, you may want to consider a new unit.

Troy B for Model Number FRS23H5ASB6

I have read several Q&A's about my problem with our Frigidaire fridge. My symptoms seem to point to the starter reply (AP4367255). My first question is this: The picture for this part on your site doesn't show the red and blue wires coming out of relay. How do I get the existing wires to unplug from my relay to be used with new replay? Or was the wires omitted from picture for some reason? I have tried pulling the wires out with some force which didn't work. I can use more force but don't want to damage the wires if they can be reused for new relay. Is there some jedi or vulcan position that can be used to unleash the connection? Thanks

Hello Troy. You will need to use an ice pick or pick tool and go inside the relay where the wires are connected and press down on the little clip made onto the terminal of the wire. This releases the wire for removal.

Hello Candace, The start device, (start relay and overload), is 5304491941. When you remove the old one, if it's bad, it will rattle when you shake it. The ceramic disk has shattered inside the device if it rattles and will require replacement. If it doesn't rattle, you should check for voltage at the device. If no voltage is present, the adaptive defrost control 5303918476 will require replacement.

Frank for Model Number Frigidaire side by side

Hi, I am struggling to get the unit working; I ordered the starter relay- as fan is functioning fine- The relay ordered was 218721119 The one that I received was 241524605. I have been told this is the direct replacement? I installed and got click and buzzing noise from the compressor. I check the compressor for circuits shorts and check the winding as recommended in the forum all check out OK. What am I missing? Thank for your help. Frank

Hello Frank. If you replace the relay/overload 5304491941, and the compressor still is not running, you will need to replace the compressor on the unit. Sometimes, the compressors will test good, but be locked up, and need to be replaced. It sounds like you are dealing with a bad compressor here.

Hello Missy, First check for a crimped water line or low water pressure to the unit. If none is found, replace the water inlet valve 242252603.

Hello Debbie. Check and see if the compressor is clicking on the back of the unit. If not, and unit is just dead, then the defrost timer 5303918476 will need to be replaced in the unit. Hope this helps.

Hello Greg. Make sure the hole in the back of the refrigerator is not clogged with ice. You will need to remove the back wall inside the freezer to check this. If it is clogged, you will need to replace the evaporator fan motor. If it is not clogged, you will need to replace the temperature control 241537103 in the unit. Hope this helps.

John, based on the information we have, you don't need the "pig tail wire". Insert the wires in the same location on the new relay as the old, attach the relay to the pins on the compressor, slide the capacitor 5304464438 onto the peg of the relay until seated tightly in the slots. Thanks
