The Water Level Float Switch Assembly is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire dishwashers. It uses a floating switch design to accurately sense water levels filling and draining during cycles. Proper level detection allows for optimized wash and rinse action and water volume control.

Causes of a bad float switch assembly can include wear and tear over many years of use, interfering with free float movement. Mineral or scale deposits may accumulate on float components, inhibiting functionality. Physical damage from impact could introduce leaks.

Symptoms of a bad float switch assembly include issues such as:

  • Inability to properly detect water levels
  • Long fill or drain times
  • Failure to fill or drain completely
  • Potential overflow or standing water issues
  • Error codes pointing to level sensor faults

This OEM Frigidaire replacement part is also compatible with some Electrolux, Westinghouse, and Kenmore dishwashers.

For Frigidaire Water Level Float Switch Assembly (Part Number: OEM14947188)

John, Check to make sure that when this is happening the machine is not full of suds. A build-up of soap and or the wrong detergent could have a part in this. If so try cleaning the machine very well with a dishwasher cleaner and try it from there.

David, it would be recommended that the water inlet valve 807047901 is tested for 120VAC. If it is receiving proper voltage, it has failed and would need to be replaced (if the water supply is on and the supply hose is not kinked).

James, If the incoming water pressure is 21 PSI Then this would be too low of water pressure and you would want to get the water pressure increased.

Dolly, your model dishwasher only uses 6.1 gallons total for 2 washes and 3 rinse cycles. That is around 1.2 gallons per wash. The newer dishwashers do not use a lot of water. There should be enough water to cover the filter area at the bottom of the tub. The amount of water going into the tub is determined by time. Depending on the water pressure and volume of water in your house, the higher the pressure, the more water going into the tub.

Dishwasher stops and starts a lot. Was doing it occasionally now does it more often. Google search suggests it is the "PRESSURE SWITCH", which I don't see a part named here for that, but I do see "water level switch assembly" listed. How to diagnose for correct problem/part? Machine does seem to wash properly, it just takes a very long time to lots of starts and stops. Will start for 1/2 to 1-2 seconds then stops for a few second or up to 30-60 seconds before repeating short stops/starts again. Seems to do it during both wash and drain cycles.

Jacob, The water level switch would not cause this type of issue of starting and stopping and would most likely be caused by a faulty control board.

Hello Owen, This is normally an indication of either an overfill or a cracked float 154767801. If the unit is overfilling, the water valve 154637401 is normally the cause.

Hello J.C., This is the indication of a power failure. Since starting over does not correct the issue, turn power off to the unit and check the power connection by removing the kick panel and open the power connection box. Check the wire nuts for any loose connections. This is the most common cause of this condition. If no loose connections are found, check the breaker for issues. In isolated instances there can be a loose connection to the motor, door switch, failing door switches and/or a failed control board. All of these have to be checked to pinpoint the cause of the problem.

Ben, Remove the lower kickpanel from the unit. Once removed, on the left side is where the switch is located. You will want to make sure that power is shut off to the unit and there should be a screw holding the switch in place.
