Dan February 03, 2017 for Model Number GSL25JFPABS Refrigerator and freezer are no longer cold. Freezer won't get below 40 degrees. Condenser fan is running,(cleaned coil) compressor is warm to touch and seems to be running. 120v at the relay. Am I looking at a compressor failure or possibly a motherboard? Is there any other tests I can do to narrow the problem down? Thanks Dan
1 Answer Hello Dan. This is a sealed system failure and you will need an HVAC tech to come out and repair the unit. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Edwin. Sorry, the manufacturer does not offer the specs on the board components. You will need to contact them for that information. Read More...
Ed January 26, 2017 for Model Number HSM25GFTASA The other day my power went out for several hours. Some time after it came back on I noticed water dripping down the front of the freezer door, presumably melted ice, and the temperature control/ice maker buttons no longer worked, and the refrigerator is no longer staying cold (lights still work). I don't have any reason to think any other part of the refrigerator was damaged. I am writing to ask if replacing part WR55X10566 which appears to have been damaged by the water, would solve my problem. Thanks in advance.
1 Answer Ed, With the unit not cooling, and the dispenser controls not working then this will most likely be caused by a faulty main control board WR55X10942C. Read More...
James January 19, 2017 for Model Number Psw26msrass We have a general model psw26msra ss and the fridge is intermittently freezing food. Some weeks it runs fine although old. Other weeks it freezes all veggies. Any starting points for a competent do-it-yourselfer.
1 Answer Hello James. It sounds like the damper assembly WR49X10091 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Michael January 18, 2017 for Model Number GSH22JSXASS Control board lights are completely off. Lights in refrigerator work..As far as I can tell nothing regulated by control board is working.
1 Answer Michael, With nothing working then this would be a main control board issue. You can test at the control board to see if the fan is getting voltage and see if there is power to the display board but it sounds like a new main control board should correct the issue if no fans are running and the display is not working. Ernesto January 17, 2017 for Model Number GSL25IGREBS My GE side by side door is making a clicking noise on the back. I replaced the compressor relay. When I plug it back in, the fan is trying to run but is the one that makes the clicking noise. I tried to help it by hand but it does not start. Turns a little when it clicks. The compressor is not coming on. What could be wrong? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Ernesto, This sounds like a control WR55X10942C issue since the compressor and fan only have the board in common. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Suba. The model number will have to be verified on the units I.D. tag since the one listed came up invalid. This will be necessary to look up and specific parts such as the one you requested. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx Read More...
Robert January 01, 2017 for Model Number GSH25JFXNCC I replaced the main control board on my side by side refrigerator freezer with the factory part. Control makes a clicking sound about every five minutes and changes fan to high speed, then back to low speed in the next minute. Compressor is warm. Interior of freezer was at 34 degrees when I replaced control board and had frost on food. After 4 hours temperature is about 30 degrees. Temperature control was set on 5 by the new control board. I changed temperature control to 8 about 3 hours after installing the new control board to see if freezer would cool down faster. Why is it not cooling down faster?
1 Answer Robert, Your refrigerator is equipped with a DCV variable speed evaporator fan, it operates on sensors that supply input data to the main control board and increase or decrease the fan speed based on that information, it is not abnormal tp have a fan speed that fluctuates after a replacement part is installed. Adjusting the temperature at the control, won't help speed up the cooling process, reset the control back to 5, and allow the refrigerator to run 12 to 24 hours without any door openings, then check the temperature in the freezer, and adjust the temperature control so the freezer temperature is 0 to 3 dgrs.F. It can take as long as 24 hours for the air to equalize and circulate properly then the sensors will have the proper inputs to the control board and the machine will operate properly and have the correct display. Chicagobrit January 01, 2017 for Model Number PSI23SGRBSV Hi - I am at my wit's end with this appliance! The temp in the fridge and freezer was way out of range so I replaced the thermostat on the freezer and all three sensors I could find (1 in Freezer, 2 in Fridge). The thermostat had indeed blown (was opened up per the repair video) - no idea about the sensors. Hoped that would have solved it but not much improvement - Freezer still at 14-20, Fridge at mid 40's. That was around a week ago - I then switched the logic board (yesterday). Fridge is now a steady 37 degrees, Freezer is still high at a steady 11 degrees (it did fleetingly drop to 4 degrees when the new board was put in but has jumped back up). Any advice or ideas about how to remedy including the steps to diagnose the true cause of the problem would be greatly appreciated. I read one repair note that said there were 5 sensors on this model - if that's the case, can anyone help me locate the other two please? If they're in the freezer, that might explain the temperature mis-read. Thanks in advance.
1 Answer Chicagobrit, There is a sensor that would be located on the evaporator coil in the freezer compartment and then should be one either on the ceiling or the back wall of the freezer compartment. Check your evaporator coils to make sure that they are not impacted with ice but it does sound like the sensors will be the issue. Read More...
Bob December 29, 2016 for Model Number GSS25QGPAWW Refrigerator not cooling and freezer not cooling to proper temp.
1 Answer Hello Bob. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
