Scott, based on the information provided, it sounds like the relay in the main control WR55X10942C to the condenser fan is weakening and is taking multiple attempts to close fully.

JJTPM, the temperature control can be tested for 12VDC from the red wire to the black wire during the state of failure. If there is voltage, the board assembly WR49X10095 has failed.

Matt for Model Number GSHS6HGDBCSS

Hello, I have been working to get my GE refrigerator working for the past few weeks. The issue that I am having is the temp is much colder at the bottom of the fridge and freezer section than the top. It is currently showing 9 degrees in the freezer and 54 degrees in the fridge. The evaporator fan is working when the unit is initially plugged in for a few minutes or the doors are left open for more than 3 minutes but it does not run otherwise. The condenser fan is still running all of the time I have replaced the defrost heater, defrost thermostat, evaporator fan, and thermoresistor in the freezer. I am thinking it is the main board but I am looking to see if there is a way to test it before making the large investment. Any help is appreciated.

1 Answer

Matt, Based on the information, the main control board would be the issue and you can test it by checking to see if there is between 7 and 12 Vdc to the fan motor when the doors are closed and the fan should be running. If there is not then the issue will be the board.

Jane for Model Number PSI23MGMABB

My fridge has an ongoing failure to defrost problem. I replaced the defrost heater, defrost thermostat and thermistor in June trying to cure the issue. Now two months later, the problem has returned, presumably because it took that long for the frost to completely choke up the unit again. I manually defrosted the whole mess and freezer & fridge temps have returned to normal. Does this sound like it must be a main control board problem? Before I order that expensive part, is there any way to detect if the replaced thermostat and heater are actually capable of working (in the unlikely event that you sold me a defective part, or that I somehow installed them incorrectly)? Thanks

1 Answer

Jane, You can do a continuity test with a multimeter on the heater and thermostat to make sure that they are good. This issue would most likely be a faulty control board not allowing the unit to go into the defrost cycle.

Hello Wally, This sounds more like either low water pressure to the unit from the home plumbing or a failing water inlet valve WR57X33326.

Craig for Model Number PSS26SGPASS

Hello, I own an GE side by side refrigerator/freezer (Model PSS26SGPS SS). This unit was manufactured in June of 2015. The icemaker (Part No. WR30X10093) ceased to operate; no water would flow to the unit. I replaced it with a new icemaker unit (Part No. WR30X30972). After installing the new icemaker and plugging the refrigerator back into the power supply, water immediately flowed from the water solenoid valve to the icemaker to fill the tray; however, the water would not stop flowing and stared cascading from the cube tray down into the freezer. After testing it a couple of times I learned that the water would continue to flow when the icemaker switch was in the on position or the off position, so I then unplugged the icemaker electrical connector to stop the water flow. I then opened the cover panel on the back of the back of the refrigerator to look at the main control circuit board. It has a WR30X10942 board. I noticed that the ground wire from the board was not connected, it was just loose and bundled with other wires going to the various connector plugs. I then connected the ground wire to the back of the refrigerator at one of the cover screws. I then tried the icemaker again after reconnecting the electrical plug for the icemaker, the results were the same as before, water flowed whether the icemaker switch was on or off. I also noticed that the 9 pin plug connector at the board does not have a wire in the second position on the plug going to the circuit board. I would appreciate any help you could offer to solve this problem. Craig

1 Answer

Craig, This issue would most likely be a faulty main control board since the icemaker is new.

Sherry, Check the evaporator frost pattern to see if there is a full frost pattern or very little frost. if there is only frost on the first couple rows then this will be a sealed system issue in which service would be needed to repair.
