John, If the lights are working but the fans are not coming on and the compressor is not working then the main control board would be the issue.

Steve R for Model Number pss26ngpaww

I have a GE refrig that is about 15 years old. It stopped working. The lights still go on and I can hear the fan. I had a repair tech tell me it is the mother board. He did not look nor test any thing else. He opened up the back, took out the MB and saw a burnt spot. If this part is replaced will that do the trick or is it possible that there is something else that has caused the MB to burn and it will happen again in time or right away? Does it make sense to repair this fridge 15 years old that has been working fine until this? Thank you!

Steve, This issue would be caused by a faulty main control board WR55X10942C and you would want to replace it. The burn mark normally means that a relay or resistor on the board burnt but not caused by another issue.

Appliancewoes for Model Number GSS25TSTBSS

I have a GE refrigerator model # GSS25TSTBSS. The refrigerator intermittently stops working. The temperature will start to rise in the freezer and refrigerator usually to a temperature where food needs to be removed and put into a cooler and the ice in the freezer is melting. Sometimes the refrigerator stops working for a few hours and sometimes it stops working for an entire day. However, it will eventually start cooling again. When the refrigerator is not cooling the temperature rise can be seen on the outside temperature panel near the water dispenser. The water dispenser also will not dispense water or ice when the refrigerator is not cooling properly. Once the refrigerator starts cooling again the dispenser will function properly. Could this be a bad motherboard or a compressor relay issue? Thanks for your help.

Hello Paul. These are easy to replace. Just disconnect the power. Pull out unit and remove the back panel covering the board. Unplug the wires and release the tabs securing the board. Install new board in reverse order.

Von, Most likely with replacing the damper and the thermistor then the control board is reading the thermistor improperly causing this issue.
