Dave November 19, 2013 for Model Number hss25gfta The coils in the freezer compartment ice up so it doesn't cool. The defrost element check OK with zero resistance on an ohm meter. Is there a defrost timer or is the defroster controlled by the main circuit board?

Dw November 15, 2013 for Model Number ge hsm25gftasa I have a side by side hotpoint fridge, freezer fan has started to make a whining noise during normal operation. if you open the freezer door and leave it open for a few minutes the fan speeds up and whining noise stops. close freezer door and after several minutes it starts again. when on low speed it sounds like speed varies. is fan motor the problem or something else?
1 Answer Dw, You will need to replace the evaporator fan motor WR60X10185, because of the noise. The fan motor is a variable speed motor and the normal fan noise will vary depending on circumstances, temperature, etc.this is normal . Read More...

David November 11, 2013 for Model Number GE PROFILE PSS26SGPASS The refig half is too cold. No matter where you set the temperature it stays between 33 & 29 deg. When you change the temperature, it doesn't act right. It doesn't stay where you set it to. Also should you be able to shut off the refrig and leave the freezer on? You can't. We replaced the thermistors but did not help. Do we need to replace the main board?
1 Answer David, Most likely the issue with your refrigerator will be in the refrigerator damper assembly. The Damper is located in the upper left corner of the refrigerator section. To access you will need to pull the duct assembly down. You will want to check to see if the damper door is broken. If broken you will need to replace it with part number WR49X10091. Read More...

Chip B November 10, 2013 for Model Number PTS25SHPARBS I have a GE Profile Arctica Top Freezer refrigerator purchased approximately 2003. Model # PTS25SHPARBS - Serial # LR303218 The unit has run with no issues up until 2 weeks ago. The fresh food and freezer lights, condenser fan, evaporator fan and touch pad were working but the compressor was not running. Diagnostic tests with a volt meter showed the compressor was not receiving any voltage from the main control board. I removed the main control board and found that it had a burn mark behind the 832A-1C-S relay. I replaced the main control board with a new unit and the refrigerator ran correctly for 1 day. On the second day the temperature of the freezer and fresh food areas started to climb. All of the fans still worked but the temperature touch pad was dark (new symptom) and the compressor was not running again. I unplugged the refrigerator and reset all of the connections on the main board. The temperature touch pad display and compressor started working again... but only for about 30 minutes. The fresh food and freezer lights are still working but the condenser fan, evaporator fan, touch pad (dark) and compressor are all not working. I tried reseating the new main control board connections again with no change. I then removed the new control board and found no damage or burn marks. I then placed the old burnt main control board back in the refrigerator and returned to my original problems. (The fresh food and freezer lights, condenser fan, evaporator fan and touch pad all working but the compressor was not running. Diagnostic tests with a volt meter showed the compressor not receiving any voltage from the main control board.) Any help much appreciated.
Rosalyn November 06, 2013 for Model Number GSS22IFREBB The ice and water dispenser stopped working on my GE refrigerator. I replaced the dispenser switch thinking that was the problem. Still doesn't work. If I press the dispenser the fans shut off and there's a clicking noise like it wants to start but it doesn't. I can manually spin the fan and it works until it cools and shuts off then it want start back when needed to it just clicks. What could the problem be?
1 Answer Rosalyn, You will want to check the connection at the bottom of the freezer door to make sure of no loose or broken wires. If the wiring checks ok then you will need to replace the main board as it would be causing the issue. Read More...
