Sean for Model Number ZFSB26DRISS

Trying to troubleshoot ice dispensing issue and order correct product. All this gradually happened over time. First issue that happened was unit would not switch between crushed and cube ice. Actually got stuck in crushed for some time prior to switching back to cube. Then it stopped dispensing ice cubes. Still dispensed water fine. Troubleshooted and noticed Auger didn't turn when pressed to dispense. So replaced auger motor but new unit doesn't work. Heard flap door close after so didn't think that was problem, but just checked and it doesn't open all the way. When pressed to dispense ice, exterior small light goes dim, and fridge/freezer fan goes slower. Also if I go immediately to dispense water it doesn't until I hear flap close and fan go back to normal. I'm thinking the entire control panel needs to be replaced vs. trying to replace one or both of the solenoids? Thank you for whatever guidance you can provide. I have meter tester, just not sure how to test if absolutely needed.

Sean, based on the information provided, it sounds like there is a short in the circuit either in the dispenser wiring or the dispenser control. It is recommended that the wires are inspected for any bare sections that may allow for a shorted connection. It would also be recommended that the dispenser board WR55X10279 is inspected for any scorch marks indicating a possibility of a short in the control.

Dennis, unfortunately, the model number provided is not registering as a valid number. If the model and serial numbers could be verified and provided in a new inquiry, this may allow for the most accurate information to be presented. For general purposes, if the display is receiving proper voltage (usually a 12VDC supply) and is not responding, the display would need to be replaced.

John for Model Number GSL25JFPABS

I believe the integrated defrost timer, which I think I read is a part of the motherboard, is no longer engaging or switching on. The freezer eventually gets a lot of "snow" build up on the back and the fridge temp eventually becomes warmer (can't cool). I have to manually defrost the freezer once a month until all of the ice build-up is melted away. Then everything is fine for a while until the build-up of ice resumes. I thought I read that replacing the board may fix this issue. Does that sound accurate? This refrigerator is better made than anything new on the market, and it gets nice and cold when it's freshly defrosted (both the freezer and refrigerator).

Hello John, The most common failure in this design is the defrost heater WR51X10055 but can occasionally be caused by the defrost thermostat WR50X10068. The defrost thermostat can be determined to be the issue if the sealant in the top is bulging out of the metal "cup". If the heater tests good and the defrost thermostat are eliminated, then you can safely assume the board WR55X10942C to be the issue.

Greggor1 for Model Number GE fridge pts25shparbs

GE "2003" arctica fridge not working but freezer is model# pts25shparbs. Last week we noticed the temp in the fridge rising (60F) also the LED temperature readout stopped working (dark). I removed the panel on the freezer to expose the condensor it was a block of ice. I defrosted the condenser coils, removed all standing water, reassembled and the fridge cooled for about a week (42F) now the temp has risen again (60F). dissasembled again and some frost/ice is built up but not nearly as bad as before. The fan is working, the opening to teh fridge is un obstructed. What should I be testing with my multimeter to troubleshoot the problem?

1 Answer

Hello Greg, start by testing the defrost circuit components, the evap coil defrost thermistor at 32deg (in an ice water bath) should ohm at about 16k, the defrost heater about 20 ohms, the high temp defrost thermostat should show continuity under 140 deg, if all ok replace the main control board WR55X10942C.

Hello Laurie Does the evaporator fan stop or just the air is not circulating with the freezer door closed? Gene

Eddie, You will want to check to make sure that the harness at the bottom of the door is connected properly and no loose connections. If this checks ok then the main control board would be the most likely cause for this issue.

Robert T for Model Number CSHS5UGXSS

The door water dispenser only works when the unit is running (cooling mode). In the rest mode no water flows and when the water dispenser arm is pushed to get water the temperature numbers flash, but no water. The ice maker seems to work but I'm not sure if it is only in the run mode (vs rest). I have replaced the door control board and the problem still persists. Could this be related to a faulty main control board? (WR55X10942P) The freezer and main box are kept at the temperatures on the door read out. The water line is not frozen since I get water when the unit is in the run/cool mode. Thanks for the help.

Vic, That error is for a malfunction in the keypad. The manufacturer states to make sure keypad is firmly connected. Remove power and unplug and replug all connectors to the keypad. Reapply power and if error remains to replace keypad first and if error still remains to replace the display board.
