The User Interface Control Board is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. It is responsible for controlling and managing the settings and functions of the dishwasher. It allows users to select different wash cycles, adjust settings, and monitor the progress of the dishwasher.

A bad User Interface Control Board can occur due to electrical malfunctions, damage caused by power surges, or wear and tear over time. If the control board becomes unresponsive, displays error codes, or fails to operate the dishwasher properly, it may be time to replace the User Interface Control Board.

Symptoms of a bad User Interface Control Board include:

  • Unresponsive buttons or touchpad.
  • Error codes displayed on the control panel.
  • Inability to select or change wash cycles.
  • Display screen not functioning properly.

If you're experiencing any of these issues, it's time to replace the User Interface Control Board with this genuine GE part. Regain full control over your dishwasher's settings and ensure an efficient cleaning. This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Bob, Thanks for the question!!! Locate the tech sheet (typically behind the kickplate or inside the door) on the unit. You will find information there on what the blinking light means and troubleshooting assistance based on that blinking pattern.

Tim, the machine control WD21X32163, and the user interface control can be tested for voltage. If the machine control sends 13.5VDC out (testing connection J722 from the wire at pin 2 to the wire at pin 5) and it reaches the user interface (testing the wire at pin 1 to the wire at pin 2), the interface would need to be changed. If it does not reach the interface, the DC wire harness WD21X26123 would need to be changed.

Dishwasher has no power. What I have been doing for several months now is, when it decides to not work, I go to the circuit breaker panel out in the garage and flip the breaker. I usually wait several hours, turn the breaker back on dishwasher is fine for a few days. Sometimes it takes a day or two not just an hour or two for it to work. But then it does work. Then it won't work. What could be the problem? I've replaced one of the circuit control boards, the one in the bottom, but I have not replaced the user one at the top.

Ron, at the time of failure, the user control WD21X31902C will need to be tested for 13.5VDC from the black/green wire at pin 1 of the wire harness to the yellow/blue wire at pin 2. If there is 13.5VDC, the user control has failed.

After finding the UI board non-functional and verifying the control board was outputting the correct voltage to the UI board, I replaced the UI board (WD21X23462). However, after replacement the UI lights turn on and the board beeps when buttons are pressed or the door is opened but nothing is functioning properly. I verified the jumpers were in the correct position for my model before installing. What could be causing this? Is there a way to reset the UI panel to fix this?

1 Answer

Ronald, Aside from turning the power off to the unit, there is no other way to reset the UI Board. Test the door latch and check the light on the control board to see if there is an error floashing.

Hello John, to access the interface, turn off power to the DW, using 2 flat screwdrivers insert into the inner door vent and turn CCW to remove it, then remove the 4 inner door panel screws, lift the inner door panel away next.

I originally had an issue with the dishwasher and replaced the Service Machine Control board. I purchased the board from this website back in Feb. 2021. This fixed the issue I was having at the time but now the dishwasher seems to be dead (no lights). Prior to becoming completely dead, it would act dead, but resetting the breaker to the dishwasher would reset it and make it functional again. From reading some of the other responses to similar issues, it sounds like the User Interface board may be bad now. Can you confirm if the UI board sounds bad or is there some other check I should perform to troubleshoot the issue or confirm that the UI board is bad? The one other check that I have not performed yet is to check the wiring cable from the Service Machine Control board to the UI board. I would like to get confirmation that the UI board seems to be bad before I purchase one and replace it. Thanks.

Tony B., Thanks for the question!!! Check voltage output from the main control on connector J722 pin 2 black/green to pin 5 yellow/black. If it is not 13.5 VDC then the main control has an issue and needs replaced. If you have the proper voltage then check the wires to the User Interface for continuity. If the wires are okay then the User Interface is the issue.

Hello Brian, access the main control board under the dishwasher, it should have a lit indicator light. if not lit check that there is 120v going into that board, if it has the 120v and not lit that board would need to be replaced. If it is lit and the control panel has no response check the wire harness that goes from that board up through the door for wire problems.
