Carol September 13, 2013 for Model Number ge spacesaver 1800 XL/ JVM1870sk03 The board is completely black and none workable. Do I need a fuse, control panel or a new microwave?
1 Answer Hello Carol. Test the fuse. If it is bad replace it but make sure the door switches are good. Usually they will cause the fuse to blow if bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

After a couple of minutes in use I heard a like an electrical zapping sound for a couple of seconds and then the microwave stopped. The light, fan, and touch pad do not work either. I have been reading other post about maybe its the fuse. Thanks for any help

Sophia April 20, 2013 for Model Number JVM1540DM I have a GE microwave oven that will not heat. Everything is working perfectly. There was a very loud humming sound just before it stopped heating. Thank you.
1 Answer Sophia, Microwaves that don't heat and have a loud hum noise usually indicates and issue in the high side components, and usually a faulty diode WB27X35382 or magnetron WB27X10927. These are hi voltage components and you have to be careful when you're dealing or working with them. To access and test them you'll need to remove the machine from the cabinet and remove the outer cabinet casing. Read More...
Jeri April 08, 2013 for Model Number sca2000bww03 The microwave went completely dead while heating a cup of coffee. There is no power at all. I pulled the fuse and checked it with a multimeter and it has not continuity. Can I get a replacement from a local store or does it have to come from GE? Is it a 20amp 250v fuse?
1 Answer Hello Jeri. As long as the fuse is the same, it should work. However, you need to determine if a door switch or the H.V. circuit caused the fuse to fail. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Gary March 18, 2013 for Model Number pvm1870sm1ffs I have a GE Profile over the range microwave model #pvm1870sm1ffs and there is no power, but the plug in does have power, is there an internal fuse? and where is it located and changed. Do I have to take the unit down to change it? Thank you, Gary
1 Answer Gary, There are a couple of fuses on unit. There is a 20 amp 250 v fuse that is behind the control panel that you could test to see if it is bad. There are also thermal cutoff fuses inside the unit. To access the 20 amp fuse you will remove the grill and take screw out at top of control panel and take off the control panel. The other fuses would require the unit to be pulled from installation and take the cabinet off to test for continuity on the fuses to make sure that they are good. If there is no continuity then replace the fuse. Read More...
