The Door Gasket Insert is an OEM part for GE dishwashers, specially designed to create a watertight seal along the dishwasher door's perimeter. This insert is crucial for preventing water from leaking out of the dishwasher during operation. It fits snugly into the door's groove, ensuring that the door closes securely and no water can escape during the washing and rinsing cycles.

Causes for a Door Gasket Insert to fail include regular wear and tear from daily use, exposure to harsh detergents and high temperatures, and physical damage from loading and unloading dishes.

Symptoms of a bad Door Gasket Insert include:

  • Water leaking from around the dishwasher door.
  • The dishwasher door feels loose or doesn't close as tightly as before.
  • Visible signs of wear, such as cracks, brittleness, or deformation in the gasket.

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Door Gasket Insert (Part Number: OEM6116637)

1 Answer

Vaughn, Based on the model number provided the gasket you ask about is not listed for this model. If it had one it would have been sold as part of the inner door panel. Unfortunately, the inner door panel has been discontinued by the manufacturer & is no longer available. No alternate or substitute part has been recommended by the manufacturer.

David, the model number provided is not designed to utilize the gasket insert WD08X10015 based on manufacturer information. It would be recommended that the unit is inspected for a proper level and that the spray arm assembly WD22X154 is inspected for any clogged jets or cracks. Detergent residue can also cause leaking if there is enough built up to cause sudsing. This can be corrected using Affresh W10282479 in an empty cleaning cycle.

Millie for Model Number GSD3960L00SS

I have a leak on the corners and the middle of our dishwasher door. I ordered and replaced the baffles, the gasket around the door. It kept leaking so I looked online again and what was suggested was a long bottom gasket - part #WD08X10075. I ordered it but upon inspection, there wasn't an old one to replace nor a groove to slide it into?? I then reviewed the video for the gasket again and this time I saw a middle piece that goes between the ends of the gasket around the door part #WD08X10015. Turns out that piece was missing entirely. I didn't see either of those on the diagram for the dishwasher. I'm crossing my fingers that this works. If it doesn't do you have any other suggestions?

Millie, oftentimes, this type of failure occurs if there is a crack or clogged jet in the lower spray arm WD22X155 or if the water overfills. It is recommended that the lower spray arm be inspected and that the water level be checked to identify if it is filling up to the lip of the tub. If it is filling up to the tub lip, the unit is overfilling and the valve would need to be tested to identify if it is allowing water to pass through when there is no voltage being applied to it.

Steve Corwin for Model Number GLD5560L00SS

Have small leak at bottom of door. The 'help your self guide does NOT show or match the door frame or gasket for this model. There is a full surface panel on the door and the piece that appears slightly damaged is in the center of the bottom of the door. But its is not a short piece, rather that piece goes completely across the bottom of the door. It would appear I need to remove that panel - 2 screws each side of top and one at bottom each side to access the gasket. Your suggestions or guidance?

Hello, Steve. Sounds like the lower door seal would need to be replaced. The correct part for the model number you posted wd08x10059 Thank you.
