Lee March 03, 2014 for Model Number GSH25JFRFBB The heater assembly AP3884317 is burned out. Also the male connectors that attach to it are fried also. I need the harness assembly for the heater. Do you have that available?. I've seen heater assemblies on other heaters that include the harness but cannot find the harness assembly for this particular part. Thanks, Lee
Blake March 01, 2014 for Model Number gss25jfmbww Having defrost issue with GE refrigerator. Fresh food side not cooling. Defrost heating element tests at 22 ohms though the glass is discolored. How do I test continuity and resistance in the thermostat and freezer side thermistors? How do I disconnect them without ruining them? Does it matter what temperature I test them at? If so, is that fahrenheit or celsius? Suggestions on how to get them to a set temperature for a DIY'er at home would be appreciated.
1 Answer Hello Blake. You must make a small splice in the insulation of the wires to test the parts. If the heater is good, and then the thermostat and thermistor is good, you will need to replace the main board on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Ed January 04, 2014 for Model Number GSS25WGMDWW What should the ohm resistance be on heater tube? I checked it and and it read 21.4 AP3183311 is your heater number
1 Answer Hello Ed, As per the spec sheet for your unit, the resistance should be 18O, +/- 10%. Be sure when you test the heater assembly to tap on the assembly while testing for proper results. If tapping on it causes the reading to drop to no contact, the element has burned in to and is contacting intermittently. Read More...
Chaz December 11, 2013 for Model Number GE PSS26NG Greetings. I have this refrig in the garage. It worked fine in the garage until this year, then the refrig side made everything extremely cold (10-20 degrees) even though I had the temp set at 37 degrees. Would it make sense to add the optional heater to see if it will maintain the temp set on the controls in the refrig? If so, can you tell me the appropriate part #? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Chaz. No, it sounds like the damper assembly is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Check the damper assembly and see if it is stuck open or has a broken door. Read More...

Tory November 30, 2013 for Model Number GE refrigerator GSS25KGMD WW I purchased a defrost heater harness wr51x10101 and it was to short, it measured a total of 9-1/2 inches it could not hook to the brackets inside the freezer, should I purchase the 12 inch heater harness as an replacement?
1 Answer Tory, The correct heater for your unit is part number WR51X10055 and the WR51X10101 will not work for your unit as it is for smaller than 25 cubic foot models. Read More...
Mark November 23, 2013 for Model Number GSH25JSTA SS Hello I have issues with defrost, The heater has resistance and the t-stat was closed when I checked while the coils was frozen over, I assume this unit does not have a traditional defrost timer and is incorporated the the main control board? What else can the problem be? Thank you Mark
1 Answer Mark, The unit does use the main control board to go through the defrost. Before you replace the board though, this unit also incorporates a defrost thermistor. The thermistor sits at the top of the evaporator coil and is a white bullet looking piece with 2 white wires going into it. The resistance of the thermistor at 0 degrees should be 42.2K ohms of resistance. If not within 10 percent of this resistance then the thermistor is bad and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Cliff November 06, 2013 for Model Number gsl25jfpabs I checked all of the questions regarding the defrost heater element for the evaporator but did not see my model listed in any of the questions. It calls for the 12" single element # AP3183311 but there is a link for the 2 element 9" kit AP4355467. It is not only cheaper but I understand that it is better. I just wanted to verify prior to ordering. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Cliff. You must use part number WR51X10055. You can not use the double 9". Read More...
